Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Misplaced Pages. For information on retitling files, categories, and other items, see § When not to use this page.
Before moving a page or requesting a move, please review the article titling policy and the guidelines on primary topics.
Any autoconfirmed user can move a page using the "Move" option in the editing toolbar; see how to move a page for more information. If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page. However, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:
- Technical reasons may prevent a move; for example, a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or the page may be protected from moves. In such cases, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Requests to revert recent, undiscussed, controversial moves may be made at WP:RM/TR. If the new name has not become the stable title, the undiscussed move will be reverted. If the new name has become the stable title, a requested move will be needed to determine the article's proper location.
- A title may be disputed, and discussion may be necessary to reach consensus: see § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. The requested moves process is not mandatory, and sometimes an informal discussion at the article's talk page can help reach consensus.
- A page should not be moved and a new move discussion should not be opened when there is already an open move request on a talk page. Instead, please participate in the open discussion.
- Unregistered and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users are unable to move pages.
Requests are typically processed after seven days. If consensus supports the move at or after this time, a reviewer will perform it. If there is a consensus not to move the page, the request will be closed as "not moved." When consensus remains unclear, the request may be relisted to allow more time, or closed as "no consensus". See Misplaced Pages:Requested moves/Closing instructions for more details on the process.
Misplaced Pages:Move review can be used to contest the outcome of a move request as long as all steps are followed. If a discussion on the closer's talk page does not resolve an issue, then a move review will evaluate the close of the move discussion to determine whether or not the contested close was reasonable and consistent with the spirit and intent of common practice, policies, and guidelines.
When not to use this page
ShortcutsSeparate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:
- Making an uncontroversial move – if you can, be bold and do it yourself! If you can't, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Renaming a category – propose the move at Misplaced Pages:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming a stub template – propose the move at Misplaced Pages:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming an image or other file – see Misplaced Pages:Moving a page § Moving a file page.
- Moves from draft namespace or user space to article space – Unconfirmed users: add
{{subst:submit}}
to the top of the article. See Misplaced Pages:Articles for creation. Confirmed users: Move the page yourself. - Merging two articles – make a request at Misplaced Pages:Proposed mergers, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Splitting an article – make a request at Misplaced Pages:Proposed article splits, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Requesting that page histories be merged – list them at Misplaced Pages:Requests for history merge.
- Contesting a move request close – use the Misplaced Pages:Move review process.
Undiscussed moves
ShortcutsAutoconfirmed editors may move a page without discussion if all of the following apply:
- No article exists at the new target title;
- There has been no previous discussion about the title of the page that expressed any objection to a new title; and
- It seems unlikely that anyone would reasonably disagree with the move.
If you disagree with a prior bold move, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move yourself. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons, then you may request a technical move.
Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.
Uncontroversial proposals
Only list here proposals that are clearly uncontroversial but require administrator help to complete (for example, spelling and capitalization fixes). Do not list a proposed page move in this section if there is any possibility that it could be opposed by anyone. Please list new requests at the bottom of the list and use {{subst:WP:RM2|Old page name|Requested name|Reason for move}} rather than copying previous entries. The template will automatically include your signature. No edits to the article's talk page are required.
If you object to a proposal listed here, please relist it in the #Incomplete and contested proposals section below.
- Skadar Lake → Lake Scutari — To revert, for the second time today, an undiscussed unilateral controvertial page move that even contradicts the result of the last proper move request. — I can't revert it myself because the original page (Lake Scutari) has now a history of redirects. — I'm also asking to protect the article from being moved, to force users to discuss the issue at the article's talk page (and possibly propose a proper move request). —Ev 05:30, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Sean Hughes (comedian) → Sean Hughes — Clear primary use; 48 of the first 50 Google results for "Sean Hughes" are for this comedian. —Masaruemoto 02:26, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Incomplete and contested proposals
- Pele (mythology) → Pele - As there are still Native Hawaiians who worship Pele and other ancestoral gods to use the qualifier "mythology" in the title is an insult to their beliefs and POV. The page Pele was just a redirect to the Pelé (footballer). There is no Vishnu (mythology) page and the Jesus (mythology) page is a redirect to a theory of higher criticism not to Jesus Christ. For links to an AP story of May 25, 2007 proving that these beliefs continue see the talk page.--Wowaconia 20:21, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have redirected Pele to Pele (disambiguation). Anthony Appleyard 22:39, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Pegging (sexual practice) → Pegging — There is only one other usage mentioned at Pegging (disambiguation), the usage means "to score points in cribbage", and that usage does not have its own article titled "pegging". There were previously several other uses listed at the dab, but none were upheld in their respective articles. WP search for "pegging" reveals nothing else. — Joie de Vivre 14:12, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- 3 Men and a Little Lady → Three Men and a Little Lady —(Discuss)— The proper title of this film is Three Men and a Little Lady, and it is now simply being used as a redirect for this title. —Jaldridge86 02:18, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- X Prize Foundation → X PRIZE Foundation - according to their website, "X PRIZE" is the correct spelling. I can't move it myself because "X PRIZE Foundation" already exists as a redirect page. -- Hux 12:05, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- Incomplete / contested --Stemonitis 10:13, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Northern Right Whale Dolphin → Northern right whale dolphin — Fix capitalization —Calliopejen1 03:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher → North Carolina Aquariums - The article is about all three, not just that one. --Jnelson09 21:00, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- Incomplete. Dekimasuよ! 00:52, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Operation Wisła → Operation Vistula — This is the term used in nearly all historic and contemporary English-language academic sources. It was previously titled Operation Vistula but was retitled by a Polish person to Wisla (the Polish name for the Vistula River) without comment. DvonD 04:15, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Incomplete. --Stemonitis 16:48, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Trivium_(education) → Trivium — The trivium (grammar, logic and rhetoric) is a cornerstone philosophy of all western education and is what I was expecting to see when I came here; only to find that it'd been used for some unknown 'metal band' with NN history, I moved the metal band from 'Trivium' to 'Trivium_(Band)' with intent to make the above move but couldn't as 'trivium' was already in use. If someone could make the swap across it'd be appreciated. I need not stress that an academic philosophy as integral as trivium is of higher relevance to some band that has put out two self-published albums in their lifetime. :P If not, maybe I should make a band named rhetoric! :P —Jachin 01:31, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Please use the correct template: see the instructions above. Do not attempt to copy and paste formatting from another listing. |

- Leave Me Alone (disambiguation) → Leave Me Alone —(Discuss)— Leave Me Alone is currently just a redirect page for Leave Me Alone (song), and page titles without (disambiguation) are preferred for disambiguation pages. —ShelfSkewed Talk 03:15, 2 June 2007 (UTC)--ShelfSkewed Talk 03:15, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Misplaced Pages:No disclaimer templates → Misplaced Pages:No disclaimers —(Discuss)— It should apply to disclaimers that are not in template form. —Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 00:58, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Image:SS Dunedin by Frederick Tudgay.JPG → Image:"Dunedin" by Frederick Tudgay.JPG
- Image:SS Dunedin loading at Port Chalmers 1882.JPG → Image:"Dunedin" loading at Port Chalmers 1882.JPG
- Image:SS Dunedin loading 1882.JPG → Image:"Dunedin" loading 1882.JPG
The ship is clearly not a Steam Ship (there has never been an "SS Dunedin"). These need deleting/reinstalling, but one of them is slated to appear on the Main page, so I cannot do that. Grutness...wha? 00:48, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

- Elizabeth Stuart → Elizabeth of Bohemia —(Discuss)— English usage. This is the longstanding position for this page, recently unilaterally moved. —Septentrionalis PMAnderson 00:27, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Eleanor Marie Robertson → Nora Roberts —(Discuss)— Nora Roberts is the well known pseudonym for the person and the page was originally at Nora Roberts until a user moved it without prior discussion. When doing a google search EMR comes back with 298 unique hits while Nora Roberts gets over a million. The other user believes the move is correct, I don't per naming conventions and believe that the only way to solve this is community consensus —ImmortalGoddezz 23:55, 1 June 2007 (UTC) --ImmortalGoddezz 23:55, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Elizabeth Smart kidnapping → Elizabeth Smart (abductee) —(Discuss)— A move that was made adn contested. I'm against it, Tony Sidaway is for it, etc. Updated, the article was simply moved back without discussion and then move protected, so... —badlydrawnjeff talk 23:14, 1 June 2007 (UTC) --badlydrawnjeff talk 23:14, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Trentino → Province of Trento —(Discuss)— Today’s move from Province of Trento to Trentino appears relatively harmless. However there has been considerable debate on how this page should be named and the most recent proposal to move to Trentino failed to achieve consensus. In this light I feel that the page should be returned to the status quo ante and that no further move should be made until concensus has been achieved. —Ian Spackman 16:50, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- List of individuals executed by the United States → List of individuals executed by the federal government of the United States —(Discuss)— Misleading title —Mtford 10:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- The Midknight (novel) → The Midknight —(Discuss)— Unnecessary disambiguation —Russ (talk) 09:50, 1 June 2007 (UTC) --Russ (talk) 09:50, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Pippin the Hunchback → Pepin the Hunchback —(Discuss)— Consistency for spelling of this first name. All other Pippins are "Pepins" at Misplaced Pages now. Srnec 04:03, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Wokou → To be determined —(Discuss)— This was sitting in the incomplete section for a while, but discussion has been continuing and it appears to have a full request/poll now. Dekimasuよ! 01:31, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Asian people → Asians —(Discuss)— 'Asian' is the adjective (i.e., the demonym) for people from Asia, not 'Asian people' -- the plural Asians makes more sense and is reflected in the titles for other groups (e.g., Russians). Alternatively, the article can be moved back to Asian (people). In either case, Asian can be made into a redirect (c.f. American), though I'm unsure why it was moved from 'Asian (people)' to begin with. —Corticopia 00:26, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
31 May 2007
- Saint Martin (Netherlands) → Sint Maarten —(Discuss)— "Saint Martin (Netherlands)" is not the correct name for the Dutch half of the island, but some people insist that calling it "Sint Maarten" violates Misplaced Pages's English policy, so I am giving them a chance to object —Kww 21:17, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Ourmedia → Ourmedia.org —(Discuss)— disambiguation needed; several similarly-named organizations exist globally. Fark.com appears to be an appropriate example of naming conventions. —Parhamr 20:41, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Suppression of Falun Gong → Persecution of Falun Gong —(Discuss)— Existing Misplaced Pages conventions are in favour of this change. See Talk:Suppression_of_Falun_Gong#Suppression_-.3E_Persecution for references. "Persecution of Falun Gong" was the original name of the article, but it was changed by certain anti-FLG activists who have been recently banned by the ArbCom. —✔ Olaf Stephanos ✍ 16:19, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Emerging church movement → Emerging church —(Discuss)— Doing a google search, "Emerging church movement" brings up 60,000 hits while "Emerging church" brings up over 1 million hits. Additionally, the first sentence of this article redundantly states that the Emerging church movement is a movement —Gold Dragon 14:03, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hapoel Be'er Sheva F.C. → Hapoel Beersheba F.C. —(Discuss)— Just like Beitar Yerushalayim is Beitar Jerusalem in English, and Hapoel Akko is Hapoel Acre in English, Be'er Sheva is Beersheba in English —NYC2TLV 09:22, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Snøhetta → Snøhetta_(company) —(Discuss)— (and Snøhetta_(mountain) → Snøhetta) The name Snøhetta originates from the mountain. Other uses are derivations. Hence I think the mountain (rather than the company) deserves the main entry Snøhetta. —Gsv 09:01, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Fordham University Athletics → Fordham Rams —(Discuss)— conform article name with that of other names for university athletics programs (examples: Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Eastern Illinois Panthers, and Indiana Hoosiers) —Wl219 07:58, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Adjectival phrase → Adjective phrase —(Discuss)— The latter is the more common term, and more consistently refers to the topic of this article. ——RuakhTALK 02:34, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

- System 7 (Macintosh) → System 7 —(Discuss)— most likely article for a search of "System 7" —Dpaanlka 20:39, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- Powerpuff Girls (characters) → The Powerpuff Girls (characters) —(Discuss)— The article 'the' a part of their title; to not have it is simply inaccurate. The only reason I can't do it manually is that the redirect page has a history. —HyperBlossom 20:03, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- Operation PBSUCCESS → 1954 Guatemalan coup d'état —(Discuss)— ——Christopher Mann McKay 18:28, 30 May 2007 (UTC) To be consistant with 1973 Chilean coup d'état, and 1953 Iranian coup d'état. If needed after move, a seperate article can be created regarding only PBSUCCESS and not the Coup in general.
- Parmigiano Reggiano → Parmigiano-Reggiano —(Discuss)— The officially registered name of the cheese, as an EU PDO product, for instance, includes the hyphen. (But it will need an admin to make the move because of the page histories.) —Ian Spackman 16:52, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- Play_(magazine) → Play_(magazine)_(UK) —(Discuss)— Need a space for US magazine by same name —Krychek 16:26, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- America → America (disambiguation) —(Discuss)— This is an English-language site, and America in English most commonly refers to the United States. Thus, this page should be moved to America (disambiguation), and this article should redirect to the United States. Also, the continents are North and South America, or collectively the Americas, not America. — Black Harry (T|C) 15:12, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- Josette Sheeran Shiner → Josette Sheeran —(Discuss)— Fixing incomplete nomination for Bottle.of.water. - Principality of Hutt River → Hutt River Province —(Discuss)— HRP is the more common name, countries are put at their common name, so should this microstate; "principality" is less well known —--Astrokey44 09:55, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Dark ride (amusement) back to Dark ride; Current Dark ride to be moved to Dark ride (disambiguation) —(Discuss)— Move of Dark ride (amusement) was made impeteously IMHO. The Dark Ride and Dark Ride (film) do not seem to be more likely candidates than the amusement ride.--ZayZayEM 07:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)--ZayZayEM 07:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Mojibake → Garbage characters —(Discuss)— Mojibake is currently not commonly used in English. Mojibake is not a Japanese exclusive concept. The phenomenon can happen to all non-Latin users. "Garbage characters" is easily understood. —Voidvector 01:58, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Pontifical University of Comillas (Madrid) → Comillas Pontifical University —(Discuss)— The University's proper and official English title is Comillas Pontifical University. Manager22 moved it by cut and paste. This is not allowed according to Misplaced Pages:How to rename (move) a page. - Corrie (disambiguation) → Corrie —(Discuss)— This article had been about the geological feature, or a redirect to Cirque, but the most common use of this word is apparently for Coronation Street. Since a disambiguation page already exists, that would probably be the best solution. —The way, the truth, and the light 15:32, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- Discussion in Talk:Corrie (disambiguation) leans towards that the Coronation Street meaning is not widespreadly common enough for it to be classed as a dominant meaning. Currently Corrie is a redirect to Corrie (disambiguation). Anthony Appleyard 06:27, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
