Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level Request unprotection Request a specific edit to a protected page Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here Request edit |

semi-protect until the end of the day. 13 vandal edits today on a page aimed at children. DrKiernan 08:52, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Shark (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
full protection +expiry 1 week, Full protection: Vandalism, This article is subject to basically non-stop vandalism by both IP and registered users. Haemo 06:11, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. - two tag-vandals now blocked - Alison ☺ 06:18, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Owen Hargreaves (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full protection - a number of different users are in dispute on how the facts in this article should be written, how the formatting should be, whether there should be flags in templates... I would like full protection to force people to talk rather than edit war, as my attempts to start discussion with people have fallen on deaf ears. robwingfield 05:58, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Soviet occupation of Romania (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Request full protection--edit-warring over whether or not to put some "disputed" tags on it has taken up the better part of the last three days and it's getting stupid. K. Lásztocska 04:24, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Fully protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Phaedriel - 04:29, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Valley Forge (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection - seems like all the recent edits are IP/new user vandalism and reverts. If it makes a difference in the request, I did some of the reverting. --J Clear 02:48, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. - marginal case, but the article needs a chance - Alison ☺ 03:03, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- What?! It got 4 bad edits from a blockable IP. There is no need for protection. Splash - tk 03:04, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Like I said, it's marginal. Feel free to undo if you feel it is necessary - I'm not about to wheel-war over it. - Alison ☺ 03:06, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, I'll meet you partway on the assumption that the IP might return with a new address. 36 hours. If it does return after that, then a block is the better-targetted action, as it has much less collateral damage in general. Splash - tk 03:14, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Sure. That'll work. Feel free to change it :) - Alison ☺ 03:31, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Talk:Labrador Retriever (edit | article | history | links | watch | logs)
Semi-protection -- Frequent personal attacks on another editor to the article's talk page by a stream of related IP addresses. I believe semi-protection blocks IPs. This will get the message across--possibly short, automatically expiring would be fine, as this may get the IP to engage in discussing the issue. Thank you. KP Botany 02:47, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 day, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. - I left a comment on the talk page as to why this had to happen - Alison ☺ 03:00, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

full protection Full protection: Dispute, User:A Man In Black is unilaterally deleting this article by changing it to a redirect. Though he cites policy, he is not following proper procedure for AFD. He is acting on his own and not acting in accordance with AFD procedure policy. He is now in an edit war with me -- this can not be allowed per policy. This article was created in good faith a year ago in responce to the original source article being marked for splitting on account of it bing too big. The matter has not been discussed in any way. I request the article be fully protected until proper procedure has been followed. --Jason Palpatine 23:43, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Fully protected due to edit warring. One thing to note is that AfD is articles for deletion; redirecting is not deletion and AfD is not necessary nor appropriate for that. – Steel 23:54, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- His action of deleting the entire contents of the article by changing it to a redirect is an act of deletion without going through AFD procedure. But I was requesting it be protected in its pre-redirect article form. Thank-you. --Jason Palpatine 00:14, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Current requests for unprotection
Shortcuts
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
Shortcut
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Semi-protection Once again, the previous semi-protection tag was removed, and the anon vandalism is as frequent as ever. Supertigerman 17:01, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- The article is averaging perhaps 10 edits per day on a busy day. I can see days in the history where hardly any edits are made. This article does not warrant protection. Splash - tk 18:11, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Protection, expiry 1 week Attempt to work it out on Talk and Discussion not working - User Rwilco still posting SPAM, and Sneaky Vandalism to this page - his initial posts reveal intent to slander. File:Space- Above and Beyond - Chig (2).jpg (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Full Protection - Slow moving revision war by user trying to insert a low-quality image which fails the WP:NFCC. Several of their images (including the one they're trying to revert to) where deleted per the CSD/NFCC. I suspect sock puppet usage (User:LexingtonDark, and IPs), primarily because the user has a history of sock puppetry (a previous account of theirs was blocked due to this, which they also made death threats from). Long Beach Poly (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi Protection- mild level of vandalism/non-constructive/ non-verifiable information; incidents every couple months some users have been warned but most edits are IP users. It being a page about a Southern California High School it will be subject to random pointless edits and self induction in to the "Notable Alumni" Section, and occasional hate speech....It would be nice if article is Wiki User ONLY.Manorin 08:26, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Reduce to semiprotection or unprotect- article being fully protected for well over a month, progress on it being seriously held back, after a months duration the vandal socks should have gone away. 217.43.58.34 16:37, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Music (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
semi protection - is there a procedure for long-term semi-protection? This article is constantly vandalized by IP editors (not by any one user in particular) - an average of 5 or 6 vandalisms per day to that one article. Good faith editors regularly revert the damage manually. The page was semi-protected for two weeks. Vandalism immediately resumed at the usual frequency as soon as the protection expired at 08:14, 26 May 2007 (UTC). In the six days since then, there have been more than 32 vandalism incidents, manually reverted. For some unknown reason, this article seems to attract endless random vandalism, wasting the time of many editors to constantly fix the problems. Thanks for your consideration on this issue. --Parzival418 Hello 05:25, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Semi-protection - since removal of semi-protection, article has experienced immediate vandalism by various anonymous IP addresses. Most likely this will continue as this article was a constant source of vandalism before it was previously protected. When it was protected, there was very little vandalism going on. Need long-term protection so editors like me don't have to keep monitoring and reverting vandals' works. Dkgong 08:45, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
