Unitarianism is any form of Christianity that denies the Trinity.
In nineteenth century America, Unitarian ideas took root in various Congregational churches, especially in New England. In 1961 the American Unitarian Church merged with the Universalists, forming the Unitarian Universalists.
Many Christians hold that a baptism is not valid unless the trinitarian formula is used in its administration, and therefore regard Unitarianism as a non-Christian religion.
