The harness has been used for many centuries for part of the collection of equipment known as horse tack, essential in the domestic, military, and agrarian use of horses (which led to harness racing). Several derived contexts now exist.

Types of harnesses

Cable harness, a group of wires that comprise part of the electrical circuitry of a motor vehicle or other equipment
Child harness
Climbing harness
Dildo harness, a "marital aid" used for a strap-on dildo
Dog harness
Kick harness, in video games
Test harness, in computer software
Parrot harness
Safety harness
Tidal harness, a device for generating tidal power
Windsurfing harness as used in the sport of windsurfing
