Maxwell Smart is the fictional main character of the 1965-1970 NBC/CBS spy spoof series, Get Smart. Smart was a secret agent, code-named Agent 86, for a fictitious government counterintelligence agency called CONTROL. The character was portrayed by stand-up comedian Don Adams. Adams reprised the role in The Nude Bomb, Get Smart, Again and a brief 1995 revival of the Get Smart series, in which Smart became the "Chief" of CONTROL.

According to various sources, the character is set to be played by Steve Carell in an upcoming feature film.
