In case Riana is not available, she's pretty sure DarkFalls will answer.

Riana

Hi Riana. Is it possible to change the orange bar color when a user edits the talk page? Or is orange the only color it is? King Lopez 10:17, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Ooo.. Nearly empty talk page :) If you change your css, you could change the new messages bar colour, but I am unsure of the scripting... --DarkFalls 10:22, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Bingo!!! --DarkFalls 10:23, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Mine is white and round. If you tell me what colours you like I can make one for you :) ~ Riana 10:32, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Should we rename this page to User talk:RianaFalls? Dark Falls has taken it over :D mind you, he is your sockpuppet ;-) Anthøny 18:41, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

You have to do some modifiying of User:King Lopez/monobook.css, or whatever. I'll show you how, if you need some help. –sebi 08:09, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Update on Category:Rescaled fairuse images more than 7 days old strangeness

Since you are still the primary user of this category, I thought you should know. I just noticed today that the category had again been missing tagged images. This prompted a couple of hours of searching, which leads me to believe that the MediaWiki software has some bugsundocumented features when it comes to conditional categorization, based on ParserFunctions. It seems that doing any edit to the {{non-free reduced}} template (including a null edit, which does not show up anywhere) will cause at least some of the category to be repopulated. To begin with, I'd like to see if doing null edits when the category seems empty is enough to eventually catch all of them (I will manually verify with a check of the tags), but if that doesn't seem to work, I will switch to real dated categories (the "as of date" kind) and request a bot to create the dated category pages (DumbBOT seems like an obvious candidate). --Pekaje 15:50, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm, interesting! I'm glad you managed to figure out a (temporary?) solution, and I'll bear it in mind. I was wondering when I'd get my next deleting fix :) ~ Riana 17:10, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, you certainly have some to go through now! I noticed that it seemed to have stabilized at some 77 images, but I was able to manually find at least one that was missing. Then I wrote a category-traversing script (set with delays, so as not to generate excessive traffic) using the query.php interface to parse the date on the tags, and found that 95 images should have been marked. Then I immediately went back to the category and noticed that now (hours after it had stabilized on 77) it did indeed show 95 images in the list. This makes me suspect that it was a side-effect of downloading the wikitext through query.php. It is possible that they would have showed up eventually anyway, once the category got emptied out a bit and another null edit was performed, but there is no way to verify that at this time. I'd like to see how it goes for a few days and then run the script again to see if every image got caught. If it doesn't seem to be working correctly, I'll get working on the dated categories instead. The reason I didn't do that in the first place is that the volume of images seems to be right between where it becomes difficult to handle it with no expiry category, but adding one for each date seems wasteful (some days there are none or just a few). --Pekaje 21:49, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

A lil help in Hindi ?

Hi. Recently I had a request to translate the Scout Motto Be Prepared into Tamil and I accomplished it with ease. However, the same user, Chris, asked for me to translate it into Hindi... and there I was (am) lacking. Would it be too much trouble? From the Bharat Scouts page, I figured out that the motto is Taiyar... Hope you can help. (Or Dark Falls, mebbe?!) aJCfreak <script type="text/javascript" src="http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=User:Krimpet/CH2_en.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>yAk 22:16, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm let's see... "Error code 221: Not compatible for translation." How come I always get the second-hand stuff? --DarkFalls 06:57, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I would say it's Taiyar ho - taiyar means 'prepared', so putting the ho gives the instruction. I think! :) ~ Riana 07:12, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I really dunno. But whatever it is (I think I failed to mention this the previous time), would it be possible for you to add the translation (in the correct script) to the Scout Motto article? Thanks. aJCfreak yAk 14:15, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Your input, please

Hello, I'll send you an email in the next few minutes, would you please reply. Thanks -84.70.118.203 13:25, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Email sent, please read :-). 84.70.118.203 13:35, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Riana, could you please go back on to MSN, it says you are signed in with a mobile device and I am unable to contact you. Thanks, 84.70.118.203 15:08, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the new userpage

You have built a monument more lasting than bronze and more glorious than the pyramids of kings, which neither corrosive rain nor the raging north wind can demolish, nor can the countless succession of the years nor the flight of time. You shall not wholly die, and the best of you shall escape of the Goddess of WikiDeath: you shall grow ever greater, fresh with the praise of future generations, so long as the wheel of fortune turns inexorably. It will be said of you, where raging Aufidus roars and where Daunus, poor in water, ruled his rustic people, that you were the first to create userpages of beauty for those of great intent. Take the proud glory that has been won by your merits and may Melpomene garland your locks with Delphic laurel.

Much obliged. Cheers, Moreschi 14:38, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

So tempted to delete it and ride off into the sunset, now :p No worries ;) ~ Riana 15:13, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Aargh! You set it in Gill Sans? Damn you Mac OS X people! It renders as Times New Roman in my poor system! The... horror... Fvasconcellos (t·c) 15:20, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I wouldn't use a Mac unless someone took my poor PC and threw it off a very high cliff ;) Hmmm, I did think Gill Sans was a font that might not render properly in everyone's browsers, I might have a look for something that will keep everyone pleased ;) ~ Riana 15:27, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
*a little less jealous* Nah, that's fine. I love Gill Sans; shame I don't have it. Maybe you could consider adding a nicer fallback option for the rest of us ;) Fvasconcellos (t·c) 15:35, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
And naturally, everything else I try doesn't render in my own browser :) Might just go with Trebuchet, it looks really ugly with Times New Roman ~ Riana 15:36, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Your comment

Perhaps I was unnecessarily heated, but guts is exactly what was needed to make that decision. I have heard there is some precedent for semi protecting RFA's, but this was still an instance of the application of IAR. To do so takes the courage and maturity to recognize when a continuation of business as usual defies common sense and the evidence at hand. If Alison is as experienced as you say, then she should be able to do so rather than make a knee-jerk denial. VanTucky 16:24, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Your point could quite easily have been phrased in a far more courteous manner. ~ Riana 16:26, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm a bureaucrat as well. It's more appropriate for a bureaucrat to do these things than an admin, and there's where Alison's experience as an admin clearly shows because she knew this too. --Deskana (banana) 16:27, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
(ec) VanTucky, quite frankly, it took more "guts" to deny your request than simply slap down the prothammer. Protection coming from me just looks like disenfranchisement (on an encyclopedia that "anyone can edit" - it's one of the five pillars), and needs to come from a 'crat IMO, as it just has. Please assume a little good faith on my part here. I've a job to do as admin and, as has been pointed out already, am highly active on WP:RPP. I decline protections many times a day - Alison 16:30, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
