Arab article
As I did read this article, it contains a lot of unusual information, propagandistic views and weasel words in the article Arab. I therefore would like to get a group with me who are able to rewrite this article in a best way to get best results. Anyone who want to join our team add your name below in the Arab Talk page. Please note that after the team has gathered, we will place "under-progress" tag. Irqirq 14:48, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
The newest WikiProject
Announcement
Hi, and welcome to the newly started Arab world WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of topics related to the Arab World.
The project birthday would be celebrated every August 24.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPARAB Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, and other tasks.
- Important notice
- We've developed a variety of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful. These guidelines can be subject of discussions at the project talkpage or simply WT:ARAB.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask User:FayssalF for the time being, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around!

- Great job. Thanks for letting me know about your field of contributions because i can now create a new department for maps, images and media (including news articles and books related to the Arab world). I am working on it and i'll be updating you once it is ready. That way you would coordinate w/ other project members on maps and other stuff. -- FayssalF - 00:22, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Here are you new spaces of work → WP:ARBMED and WP:ARBMEDG. Please read to understand about their functioning and don't forget to add them on your watchlist. Also don't hesitate to ask me if you got any question استفسار or comment regarding any changes you want to see in the project. See you around. -- FayssalF - 02:18, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Khwarezm map
Hello, sallam. Thanks for uploading this great map. However, I think two very important cities are missing, that would be Herat and Balkh. Can you please add those also? Thanks. -- Behnam 22:01, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Your recent edits
Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Misplaced Pages pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 22:44, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello
Hi, I'm Korea history...
I discovered a some error in your map.
first, the Sui Dynasty does not occupy the Inner Mongol and the Manchu. because, Goguryeo was maintaining governing the Manchu. And the Korean Peninsula Baekje and Shilla coexisted.
Second, the Liaodong rule of the Tang Dynasty cannot last long. even though Tang was campaign in inner Mongol, but it was not until a Chinese territory.
third, Liao Dynasty territory was not governs in the Korean Peninsula.
I wish the amendment of error. Upload do the amendment map in this site and refer.

Maps
Sorry, but I can't offer an opinion on your maps. I am a prisoner of my homework. Best, Aelfthrytha 01:08, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Maghreb Map Issues
As a courtesy, I am alerting you to my note regarding the Maghreb map you inserted. The present version strikes me as highly problematic and should be adjusted. Please see Maghreb Talk Page. I am not, for present, however, reverting. collounsbury 18:17, 31 August 2007 (UTC).
- Mate, I added my comments to your reaction on the Maghreb page and reverted. I am afraid that while I understand your Pan Arabist point of view, your map has to meet Maghreb issues. And let me add no need to give me Arabic or usage lesson mate, we're well beyond that. (collounsbury 22:08, 31 August 2007 (UTC))
Istifsar Dude again...
Assalam A'alaykom (Peace be Upon you)

another thing, on my Arab Dynasties project i found several Arab users... so can i invite them into the Arab Wikiproject??
and if yes... is there any formal way you want me to do it??
Ma' Assalsamah (Peace be with you)
- Salam AL. Great job. I'll have a look at the template later on. As for the outreach (contacting other potential members) i advise you to avoid it because some people would consider it a kind of spamming. Please read my advice here to another user. You have plenty of other ways to make the project known w/o being accused of spamming. -- FayssalF - 22:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
New Arab Project User Box
Hey i created a user box for the Arab World Project... any comments?? as for sending invitations to other Arabs, yes i agree with you, it might seem rather spammish then an invitation... --User:Arab League 00:29, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Maps
Your suggestions for changes to my maps are all valid. I think there are many things which could be changed. Since I left university, however, I've found that I don't have the time to continue mapmaking.
Your maps mark the territories under each dynasty much clearer. I'd suggest a few things: 1. the coloured areas need to be more clearly defined. 2. The cities marked are not accurate for all periods (e.g. Jianye had several name changes, and didn't exist before the third century) 3. the eastern coastline follows the modern coastline of China, in ancient and medieval times it would have been further to the west. But great effort nonetheless!
The Arab Atlas project is a great effort. I wish we had more concerted efforts to make maps for the history of China.

Redirect of History of the Arab World
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on History of the Arab World, by another Misplaced Pages user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because History of the Arab World is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting History of the Arab World, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Map Tulun
Dear Arab League, I tried to upload one of your drawings in wikipedia commons to use it in the german wikipedia, but I have problems with the license. Please look here and give the permission. Your drawing are to good for only one wiki. Best regards --Jkü 16:57, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- I´m not very familiar with the whole licensing system. The biggest help will be the upload of the pictures and drawings in wikipedia commons instead of the en.wikipedia. In the middle of Europe with our many languages we are used to do so, cause it is the same work and it is very helpful for all the other countries around. Otherwise there had to be uploaded in every wiki the pictures of the Eiffel-tower, of Big-Ben.... And same is with the famous mosques of Cairo. There are some at Mosques in Cairo, but just one of the Tulun. Maybe you can look there. Thanks for your fast answer, best regards--Jkü 05:27, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Maps of Persia
Hi,
I recently saw your maps of historical Persia and I was impressed with a lot of them. However, I noticed that two of them were inaccurate:
1) Image:Qara Qoyunlu Turcomans 1407–1468 (AD).PNG
This map shows the extent of the Qara Qoyunlu federation after its conquest of Jalayirid Basra in 1432. On the Qara Qoyunlu page this is captioned as showing the maximum extent of their holdings. However, over the period of 1451-1453 Jahan Shah conquered all of Timurid Persia west of Khurasan (although Kerman remained hotly contested), and these were held until the overthrow of the Qara Qoyunlu by the Aq Qoyunlu.
2) Image:Chupanid - Jalayerid dyansty 1337–1432 ad.PNG
In this map, the Chobanids are shown holding none of the territory that they actually historically held, and furthermore hold entirely territory that was never actually held. The Chobanid dynasty was centered in Tabriz and Iranian Azerbaijan in general until 1357, when Malek Asraf was overthrown by an army of the Golden Horde. In 1360 the former Chobanid territories were taken to the Jalayirids.
The Jalayirid Amirate itself, while depicted more accurately than that of the Chobanids, also has its share of errors. The Jalayirids never held Shiraz - this was under the control of the Injuids until 1357, when it was conquered by the Muzaffarids of Yazd/Kerman. In fact their entire eastern border needs to be shifted to the west. Also, the Jalayirids never exercised sovereignty over Georgia, and furthermore their western boundry infringes on the Empire of Trebizond. One other thing I noticed is that they don't hold the region around Basra.
I created a map of Persia and the surrounding regions in 1345 and put it on the Ilkhanate page. It doesn't have any boundaries (I found it too difficult to draw accurate ones in several regions) but it does list the names of most of the players in the region, with the major ones with a larger font:
Image:IranaftertheIlkhanate.png
I hope that you can update these two maps soon. I think what you've done overall with this project is great and its something I was planning to do for a while but never got to. If you have any questions don't hestitate to ask. Keep up the good work! Ro4444 02:23, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- The map for the Ghurids is also inaccurate, because many areas depicted in the map were not conquered by the Ghurids. The Ghurids gave the final blow to the Ghaznavids, and inheritted the southern parts of their realm (modern South-Afghanistan, Pakistan, and northern India) in addition to their traditional fiefdom (Herat and Ghor). Only a few other smaller states in Central Persia were dependent. The rest belonged to the Seljuq Empire. The Ghorids never conquered Iraq or Syria, they did not even conquer western Persia. Here is a link to the correct map: —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.83.153.142 (talk) 01:45, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
