Radio Station articles

Please familiarize yourself with the standards for radio station articles as documented at WP:WPRS before creating any more. I'm in the process of cleaning up the articles you have made, as well as moving them to the proper locations. Thank you. JPG-GR 04:30, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

I've read over the guidelines, joined the project and submitted several more per those guidelines . Are there some specific issues you have concerns with? Rtphokie 22:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Mainly with the names of some of the articles you have created -- radio station articles must be located at their official callsigns, as can be found using the {{FMQ}} and {{AMQ}} templates. Most notably, -no- station ever ends in "-AM". JPG-GR 05:40, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Most of the radio station articles I've created have been started from the links already present in templates such as Template:Roanoke AM. I'll clean these up before creating any more. Rtphokie 08:24, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately, more often than not, the template links are wrong. JPG-GR 16:41, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Good Work

I have seen your work pop up on my watchlist (I watch/work on Virginia stations as well) and you are doing a great job. Please let me know if you need any help. Take Care...NeutralHomer 01:20, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Not a problem:) If you have any history information for stations in Cumberland, Hagerstown, and Oakland in Maryland; Winchester, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, and Fredericksburg in Virginia, including the Southwestern section of the state; and Clarksburg, Fairmont, Elkins, and Kingwood in West Virginia, please let me know. I have made many-a-page for those areas and would appericate any help you can give.
Also, if you need any help with stations in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, or Pennsylvania, please let me know. Take Care....NeutralHomer 13:24, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Broadcasting Wiki

I've noted that you put in a lot of data on some broadcast stations. I wonder if you'd be interested in helping me.

I've been working for some time on a Broadcasting Wiki. It is a little different from the types of articles you've been writing for Misplaced Pages, but some of the same material would be of interest. My focus there is on the history of call letter, frequency, and other such changes (you can look at an existing article such as wikia:broadcasting:Chronology of call letters WVNJ to see what I have in mind) and trying to get everything into a common format.

Right now, however, I've been working on it almost all alone; a few people have put some material in and then disappeared. I'm looking to others with an interest in this sort of thing to help. Would you consider helping with this project?

I hope to see you on http://broadcasting.wikia.com -- BRG 17:35, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

a little quick on the draw aren't you there?

Is it really necessary to nominate a page for deletion less than a minute after it was created? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rtphokie (talkcontribs) 00:07, August 23, 2007 (UTC).

Depends on which page it was. I tagged a bunch of pure vanity pages from watching the "recent edits" function. In cases where more than one line existed, I copied the content to the editor's Userpage in order to prevent work from being lost. BTW: Bots can tag stuff faster than I... I'm old-school.  ;-) One last thought... Sign your comments, please. 'Preciate it. VigilancePrime 00:14, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm talking about WLJR which is clearly marked as a stub, contained a good amount of content, and is following RadioStationsProject guidelines. Can you refrain from nominating pages for deletion that are marked as stubs and newly created? --Rtphokie 00:21, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
It was three sentences. Unreferenced. With three links, one to site, one to FCC, and one to radio-locator. Doesn't seem that awe-inspiring. I can see a larger article, notably personalities, but as it originally stood, it looked like a deletion candidate. The timing was merely a function of its appearance on the Recent Changes list. I'm not entirely convinced that the plethora of radio station adds is necessary if they all are in the same three-sentence vein. Time will tell. I'm not even putting it on my watch page; like I said, it was just a fluke of timing that I noticed in the first place. VigilancePrime 00:26, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Commercial use of Image:Steger.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Steger.jpg, by another Misplaced Pages user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Steger.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Misplaced Pages by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Misplaced Pages, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Misplaced Pages needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Misplaced Pages, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Misplaced Pages, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Steger.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thanks. Replaceable fair use Image:Steger.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Steger.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. B 20:26, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Wikimania in Atlanta!

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 01:31, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for experimenting with the page Howard Stern on Misplaced Pages. Your recent edit appears to have added incorrect information, and has been reverted or removed. All information in the encyclopedia must be verifiable in a reliable published source. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thank you. The article you linked to as a "reference" , did not support your claims which were defamatory and contreversial. Lil' Dice 02:42, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:870TheVoice.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Misplaced Pages:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:17, 6 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Steger.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Steger.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:27, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
