Robin Sage is a training exercise for the US Green Berets.

It is the last phase of the training that soldiers receive before they receive their Green Berets. During the exercise around a third of North Carolina becomes the fictional "People's Republic of Pineland"

In 2002, during an off-post traffic stop, Moore County Deputy Randall Butler shot to death 1LT Tomeny and wounded SSG Phelps during the Robin Sage exercise.
