If you like ] then you might know where I took the name from. For the most part, it's meaningless. You may call me '''Grapes''' if "Bunchofgrapes" is too much typing.<ref>Or "Bunch", "BoG", etc. Or try an ]: "No spa grub, chef!"</ref>

I'm interested in a lot of things, but my main contributions are to ] articles, where I'm especially drawn to the history and science aspects. I've also done some British history stuff. And assorted miscellany.

I'm a computer programmer by trade, but I have little or no interest in contributing in that area. I am a ] citizen, living in ], ], born in ]. I earned two ] engineering degrees from ], in ], in the early ].

This is my 10000th edit!

] is my stepson.

'''Misplaced Pages is a research project. If you are going to add new content to a page, please follow these guidelines:'''
* If you don't want to do research, but just want to write what you know, or what you think you know, or what sounds good, or how it seems to work in your town, state, or country, <big><b>STOP. RIGHT. NOW.</b></big> You will be harming the encyclopedia with your "sharing". Research first. With ]. That means ''books''. If your topic isn't covered in books, that may sometimes be a warning sign that it isn't encyclopedic enough to merit coverage here. If you still believe it is, research with the best sources you can find. Journals. Magazines. Newspapers. Almost never web sites written by some random guy. Mr. random guy probably did as much research as you were going to do, before you read this: none.
* When adding material to an article, ] the sources the information is from. Don't treat this as an optional step. Trying to retrofit citations later in your own work is hard; trying to do it for some piece of text someone else wrote is basically impossible. You might as well get rid of it all and start from scratch, because the information in sources you find will be just different enough from that in the original sources to make you question the whole enterprise.

What the critics are saying

"The thing that I want to find out is who's doing the entry for butter. There's an entry for butter! What would motivate someone to do that?"
— essayist Chuck Klosterman, interviewed in Willamette Week
"We are going to start a new category -- Do Not Click This Link -- just for this item."
— Judi Smith, Dave Barry's Research Department, on a blog entry regarding the casu marzu article.
"George Bush had a quiet day yesterday. Liz Hurley's wedding was ignored. The definition of "Muslim" remained stable. Even 'cheese' was left alone."
— Cassandra Jardine, "Fount of all wisdom - and foolery", Telegraph Newspaper Online.
