Manuel Neuer (born 27 March 1986 in Gelsenkirchen) is a German footballer and the current goalkeeper of the football club FC Schalke 04. He is considered the most talented young German keeper. He won the starting position from experienced keeper Frank Rost midway through the first half of the 2006-2007 Bundesliga season. He was voted as the best goalkeeper in the German Bundesliga by fellow football players. Neuer was recently called up by Joachim Löw to participate in a fitness test.
