Evolution: The Hits is a greatest hits package, released by Britishsynthpop band Dead or Alive, in 2003, on Epic Records label, distributed by major Sony Music. Evolution: The Hits is the band's second hits collection, after 1987's Rip It Up. This collection spans their musical history from 1984 debut album, Sophisticated Boom Boom, to 2000Fragile, their latest studio album so far released, and contains all their single releases, as well as several remixes, both old and new, the most recent of which were realized in 2003.
Evolution: The Hits was released in two editions, a single one, including 18 tracks, and a double one, containing instead 28 songs. The U.S. version of the compilation contains 1 disc and 18 tracks, including two versions of Dead or Alive's most successful single, the UK and international Number 1 smash hit "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)", whereas European and Japanese versions of the collection have 2 discs and 28 songs (14 on each record), and include three versions of "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)", along with many more tracks. A sticker on this latter version says that this collector's edition contains 10 new songs/alternative versions, among which are rare mixes, improved versions and updated remixes. The 'Performance Mix' (usually incorrectly referred to as the 'Murder Mix') of "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" was re-released as a single to promote Evolution: The Hits.
