Any body able to incorporate all these images properly in the English language article? They were succesfully included in the French language version. Peter Horn 17:46, 28 April 2006 (UTC) I guess nobody was able to find time to make these immages visible in the English language Wiki --Peter Horn 18:12, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Both it:Ferrovia a cremagliera & fr:Chemin de fer à crémaillère contain immages that were sucessfully transferred from de:Zahnradbahn but which have not yet been incorporated in this article, see above. Can someone help? Peter Horn 15:10, 19 September 2006 (UTC) Peter Horn 15:10, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Slambo, I see that you have not been able to fix this yet. Cheers, Peter Horn 20:11, 2 October 2006 (UTC) Got your note. Peter Horn 20:21, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Rack systems

Different rack systems: from the left, Riggenbach, Strub, Abt and Locher.

Done

Rack systems The latter has become superfluous as someone has sucessfully integrated that immage, the former, into the English language article. That still leaves the rest. Peter Horn 00:27, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Rack systems

I guess you were too busy to copy the remainder listed above into rack railways.

Still here

I know it's been a terribly long time on this issue, but I haven't forgotten about it. I've been hesitant over moving images that I didn't create or find on my own mostly out of copyright and licensing concerns; specifically, I still need to fully review the terms on these images or to review the processes for moving images that are not my own. When I remember that I still need to do this task, I am generally not able to give this task the attention that it needs. Slambo (Speak) 18:26, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Template:NYCRR

Hi Slambo.

Thanks for tidying up the NYCRR template. I did what I could to sort it out but it still needed work. It looks great now. Thanks again. Blarneytherinosaur 00:04, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Templates

Hi there, hope you don't mind me asking but I was wondering if you had some advice on WikiProject talk page templates. I've noticed that the {{TrainsWikiProject}} is very similar to one we have over at WikiProject Amusement Parks, {{AmusementParkProject}}. Similar to the trains template, this includes descendant WPs on the same message - eg. "This article is also part of WikiProject Roller Coasters", however by 'grouping' them onto one template, the class rating is only applicable to the main topic. Just wondering if you knew of a way to copy the rating across all related WPs without having to have more than one class field? Thanks in advance, and apologies if I've completely confused you! SeaserpentTalk 15:28, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Many thanks for your reply. I think, on seeing that, it's more effort than it's worth to include sub-projects on there! Though if I'm ever feeling particularly brave I'll know who to come to :p SeaserpentTalk 21:18, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Pennsylvania Railroad

I was wondering if this article is ready for renomination for good article status. ThanksShinerunner 14:14, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Slambo, it seems the article wasn't ready yet. thanks again for the help Shinerunner 11:35, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

BNSF 7695

Sorry about that... can you look at Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe 17? Is it a hoax, or if not, is it notable? On the road side of things, I know for a fact that Texas State Highway Loop 7695 is a hoax. --NE2 22:09, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

New York, Westchester and Boston Railway

I'm sorry that I hadn't checked to determine the convention used. I'm willing to manually cahnge all of the articles that link to "New York, Westchester and Boston" to the conventional name. I have three related questions before closing this matter. The formal name of the company appears to have been "New York, Westchester & Boston Railway Company".

  • Am I correct that the convention would exclude "Company"?
  • I consulted WP:MOS, which is neutral on a case like this one and decided to use "and" instead of "&". Does that accord with most common practice in the Railroad project?
  • Is it in fully in editors' discretion as to how corporate history and "real" history are combined ? Is there some preference in the Project about this ?

Thanks for the full and prompt answers (yeses) to all questions. DCDuring 10:49, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Tram/ Talk: Tram

As I did on page Talk:Tram, I herewith like to thank you for your fast response to my request of removal the duplicated Ref's and Notes. As from Holland, Haguean, so not an English native writer, I'm trying to participate some small updates on tram and (light)rail in the vehicle area. Some 30 years ago I was Chief Responsable R&D in Power-Electronics for the Dutch Electric Railroads and Tramways; directed from the HTM-company, I pioneered early 70's thyristored serie-resonant currentcommutated choppers for trains, eloc's & trams: traction-equipment etc. through all of Europe, e.g. Swiss/German/Belgian industries -ACEC, ASEA, BBC, Alsthom, Siemens - all patented circuits... Now aged, with respected greetings and apologies for CE/AE-spelling errors, t.à.t., Ing. D.A. Borgdorff, Prof.Electr.Eng. RoutemapRoute template (redesign)

Thanks for your help with developing this template. The syntax is not very friendly, so your (unstated) clue about separating lines with comments was most welcome.

I think I found the obvious problems with the template parameters while working out the examples, so I hope there won't be any odd side-effects I'm not aware of!

slambo = slamdunk! :)

I want to say that you did an excellent job on re-working the Template:Canada class 2 template. It looked good before, but was getting cluttered, and your re-organizing of things makes it look very neat and much nicer and more managable. keep up the good work! :) RingtailedFoxTalkStalk 17:45, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Conductor (transportation)

Hi, enthusiasts who happen to arrive at Misplaced Pages may not be familiar with our policy that by clicking on a particular image they get all the relevant details, including, in those two cases, the exact type, numbering, dates etc. of the vehicles pictured—and that's what most of them want. That's why I added "Details", which you called "overlinking." As I said, I don't think it's particularly user-friendly. Best wishes, <KF> 16:12, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

help with undoing a page move

Hello, Your name was passed to me on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject UK Waterways#Lock, tunnel names, etc about being able to revert a page move that has turned out to be contentious and which was done without prior discussion. Your experience in dealing with similar problems to do with the names of railway stations was mentioned in this context. The problem page is at the moment called Little Bedwyn lock, which is was moved to eventually from the established (and in my view, correct) name of Little Bedwyn Lock. The page change went through an intermediate change (to Bedwyn little lock, which is totally incorrect) which has somehow prevented a simple reversion of the page move to take place. It was suggested that you may be able to perform this task, as well as removing the totally incorrect redirect page at Bedwyn little lock. (That is, move Little Bedwyn lock to Little Bedwyn Lock.) I hesitate to suggest that Little Bedwyn lock should also be removed, but doing that would leave many other redirect pages undeleted which use similar novel names for various locks. Can you help at all? Many thanks.  DDStretch  (talk) 21:29, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Many thanks for assisting us with that page move!  DDStretch  (talk) 11:26, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Talk:Rapid transit

Could you do me a favor and drop by the discussion at Talk:Rapid transit? Some strident words are starting to go around on the subject of the scoping and titling of the article (including one Godwin's Law incident so far), and I think things could use your expert editorial and mediatorial judgment. Thanks, CComMack (tc) 11:54, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Morristown Station?

Way back in December 2005, you put in a request for an article on "Morristown Station" on the WikiProject Trains To-do list. This wouldn't happen to be Morristown, New Jersey, would it? Because such an article is already there, and that red link can be redirected if this is the case. ---- DanTD 16:15, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't know of any other station in Morristown, NJ. The existing article includes the 1915 station house which was built by the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad. However, the address for the New Jersey Transit one is listed a 122 Morris Avenue, while the NRHP lists it as 132 Morris Street(http://www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com/NJ/Morris/state.html). The NRHP also claims this station is still being used. ---- DanTD 17:05, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

EMD GP7 article

Sorry about all the apostrophes and commas. My college handbook for English shows my entries were correct, but I see the Misplaced Pages requests a simpler format be used. Karl Kleimenhagen 19:56, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

On track ballast...

Thanks for cleaning up behind me on the track ballast article (I need all the help I can get, srsly). Quick question, that you may know, evidently being something of a railway headbanger: what's the proper name for a railway that doesn't use ballast at all, but sits on a solid concrete base instead? (Yeah, you're not WP:REFDESK, but I need it for research purposes on the article. Hope you don't mind!) Lewis Collard! (baby i'm bad news) 20:30, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

I haven't heard a specific term, but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist. However, I just happen to be working on a clinic to present at my local NMRA division about modeling ballasted track and properly scenicking the right-of-way, so it may turn up in my research soon. Slambo (Speak) 10:40, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Spiffy. Let me know if you find out. :) Lewis Collard! (baby i'm bad news) 11:54, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Name for rapid transit

Why not rename it to Rail rapid transit or Rapid transit (rail transport)? Should i put this on the rapid transit page? I also think there should also be a page on the different types of rapid transit in general, whether bus, rail or otherwise. Simply south 16:39, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

2017 in rail transport

Not related to the AfD, but found as a result of browsing beyond...

These articles ("20xx in rail transport") are automatically categorised under Category:Future events, however, they are all bizarrely appearing in the 'P' section. Having had a quick look at the problem, I can see it must relate to the template usage (hence notifying the expert!), but I'm afraid I haven't spent any time debugging them.

Incidentally, another argument against the AfD is that the articles provide a means of navigating up and down the series. The series may be followed until 2014, but then there's a gap before later years (2017 and 2019, at least). I would argue that the missing pages should also be created, as redirects to an appropriate list page if necessary, so that complete navigation to the latest available year may be achieved.

extensive removal of links

Slambo, I have noticed that you have removed links to mic-ro.com/metro/ from almost every transit-related Misplaced Pages page, including links that have been there for a long time (e.g. Rio). I can only consider this as short-sighted and destructive. Maybe you didn't take a look at the pages the links you deleted pointed to. Metro Bits is a non-profit website containing theme-based pages and high-quality photo galleries about various subway cities. Links pointing to such pages add useful information to metro-related Misplaced Pages pages.

Not only me, but also many other Misplaced Pages authors have for a long time been adding Metro Bits links to Misplaced Pages pages, especially in other-languages versions of Misplaced Pages. Misplaced Pages authors have also used Metro Bits as a reference for some articles. You might also have noticed that I have contributed content to the English and German versions of Misplaced Pages (apart from the links you have deleted).

Around 4 October 2007 you have obviously noticed that I have added a number of Metro Bits links to Misplaced Pages pages. This was not a spam attack as you might have perceived it, the reason was simply that Metro Bits had been dead for several weeks (31 August to 1 October) due to a technical failure by the webspace provider. Now that the problem is fixed I wanted to restore links that might have been deleted in the meantime because Misplaced Pages users might have noticed the dead links. I didn't keep track of where links had been nor did I check the history of every page.

I suggest that you restore the links you have deleted because they add useful resources to Misplaced Pages and provide benefit for Misplaced Pages users.

Regards, Mic-ro 23:24, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

See WP:EL. Slambo (Speak) 10:47, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
From someone who has deleted other people's work I would expect a more substantial response, see Misplaced Pages:Etiquette, Arrogance. And that a link should not be added by someone who is affiliated with the linked site seems to be merely your own idea but has nothing to do with WP:EL --Mic-ro 01:01, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Replied; see also WP:COI; I suggest further discussion at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Rapid transit. Slambo (Speak) 17:38, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
