Fair use rationale for Image:Fort William Gardens Logo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Fort William Gardens Logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Tellyaddict 12:08, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, both images are fine now, if you ever need any more help don't hesitate to contact me.Tellyaddict 16:37, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Anishinaabe Project

Hello Vidioman, Thank you for the comments on the Nishnawbe-Aski Template. I see you know a lot about Northern and Northwestern Ontario. A few editors have created Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America/Anishinaabe to organize everything on wikipedia related to Anishinaabe peoples including the Ojibwe and Oji-Cree. You can also find templates, discussion, Ojibwe-language userboxes and other stuff. None of us are Canadian (though I recently moved from Wisconsin to NW Ontario), so the vast majority of articles on the Canadian side are stubs. Anything you can contribute would be much appreciated. Thank you Leo1410 16:44, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre

Thunder Bay International Airport

I'm not sure what the CZBT is referring to Thunder Bay's airport is CYQT. I'm using the current Canada Flight Supplement and that's what ICAO and the Canadian Government use. Look at Eurocontrol and check both by entering them in the "Location Indicator" box. Also check Google CZTB and Google CYQT. It might be a weather station such as this. Cheers. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Coat of Arms of the City of Thunder Bay Ontario.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Coat of Arms of the City of Thunder Bay Ontario.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:31, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Atikokan, Ontario

Hi Vidioman. Good work on the above noted article, you've made it a lot more readable. I note what appears to be a date discrepancy regarding Tom Rawn as the result of one of your edits "and in March 1945 with 60 claims in his name, created Rawn Iron Mines Ltd. On July 23, 1940, Rawn went out prospecting near Sapawe, and never returned." Looks like he formed a company 5 years after his death. Previous version "...in March 1940... On July 23 of the same year" makes more sense, I think he disappeared in 1940 so the March 1945 may in fact be March 1940. I didn't change anything as you obviously are more on top of the subject. What do you think? JohnJardine 15:06, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

TB as a GA

Hey, just though I'd let you know I nominated Thunder Bay, Ontario as a good article. You've done a huge job on it and it's really good. The only thing I think we'll need is just more references and maybe expand the lead. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know about the nom.--Richard (Talk - Contribs) 15:59, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Thunder Bay GA Rating

I updated parts of the article, please see the comment on Talk:Thunder Bay, Ontario#GA review. Vidioman 17:41, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Regarding wikilinking of years, do we wikilink a year in infoboxes, like the year a community was established, if it is stand alone? (year only) Vidioman 21:35, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

No, it shouldn't be linked. Epbr123 22:02, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Media

Yeah, I'd do something much like the Lethbridge list. Also take a look at List of Greater Sudbury media, particularly the "Out-of-market radio" subheading — we could do something similar for the Hot FM stations.

I'd still go for a primarily city-by-city treatment rather than regional media lists, though, because some cities (Kenora, for example) just don't have long enough treatments on here to even really think about splitting their media sections out of the main article right now. Bearcat 03:01, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

I won't take the media section out of the article yet, but I'll take a crack at formatting it on a sandbox page as Thunder Bay, Ontario/List of Thunder Bay media. Then we can decide from there. Bearcat 03:05, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I have a basic list article set up at the title I mentioned above. There are still a few things that can be added to expand it, certainly (I'm going to look up the DTV channel assignments now), but if you're comfortable with it I can move it to List of Thunder Bay media, add the categories and change the media section on the city article into a link to the list. I should point out, of course, that doing it as a separate list isn't mandatory or anything like that — it's a fairly common way these days to reduce the length of the main article, but it's voluntary and it's not the only way that can be done. Bearcat 03:27, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Cool...I did the cable section from this outdated page, for what it's worth. I also rewrote the out-of-market radio section a little bit just to improve the clarity. So if you think it's in usable condition now, let me know and I can move it into article space. Bearcat 02:56, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
I just made a couple of very small style edits (a frequency should be given as "89.3 FM", not "89.3-FM"). The only noteworthy comment I have is that Survivor isn't a CTV program outside of Thunder Bay; it airs on Global. Accordingly, I removed the reference to Survivor as an example of CKPR's CTV programming, but if you can come up with a different one, please do add that instead. Bearcat 22:01, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Market sizes

Thunder Bay International Airport

Just to let you know that it wasn't a typo. When I added the 2006 movments the final stats weren't available so I used the preliminary movements. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 06:06, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for updating List of busiest airports in Canada. I hadn't noticed the final figures were out yet. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 06:43, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Notability of County Fair Mall (Thunder Bay)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on County Fair Mall (Thunder Bay), by TenPoundHammer (talk · contribs), another Misplaced Pages user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because County Fair Mall (Thunder Bay) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting County Fair Mall (Thunder Bay), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 01:42, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Climate graph

Flin Flon was the only one I used it for, I was going to use it to make up a chart for Greater Sudbury but never got around to it. Thanks--Kelapstick 20:21, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Hi Vid. Thanks for reinserting that paragraph in Winnipeg on the major employer numbers. I had already reinserted it once yesterday, but another editor was making so many rapid-fire changes to the article that I missed it the second time around. Cheers. -- Taroaldo 18:40, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Jeddah Climatological Data

Thanks Boss for updating the template and Data , the prev. data was made by a personal test using Car Tempreture across the year , Thats the reason i wrote Record and didnt write Average . but the current data seems good also , Because i live there and it doesnt go over this range :) , thanks for your 20 minutes :) Ammar ( - ) 23:50, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Thunder Bay Wards map

I think your Thunder Bay Wards map looks great. For a first map, it's outstanding. Suggestions could include:

  • Put the "Thunder Bay" title on a slant or somehow show that it applies to the entire expanse of water shown on the map (it does, doesn't it?). Right now, it's just too cramped in my opinion.
  • Insert a mini-map that helps folks unfamiliar with Thunder Bay to locate it within Canada or the Great lakes (e.g. I myself didn't know whether it was on Lake Superior or Lake Huron).
  • Add this map to as many articles as you can (that don't already have a map), even if they are not about Thunder Bay wards.

Congrats! Now, what's your next map?? MapMaster 03:44, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Winnipeg

Good work on the demographic section. It definitely needed some work. I tried fixing the footnotes but my computer kept freezing and cutting out so all I did was eliminate a footnote and was going to come back today to fix things up but alas, you had done a great job already. jdobbin 19:57, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Ontario map

Nice job. Looks much nicer than the plain white one we were using before. Though it's obviously going to take quite a while to replace every map that needs replacing on here...I'd help if I had a clue how to do the dot placement! Bearcat 03:52, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Hockey Maps

Hey that's pretty sharp. If you want to fiddle with some other league maps... I have 5 more for you (I warn you, some are ridiculous):

Tell me what you think. DMighton 04:36, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

You told me to inform you if there are any typos.... on the GMJHL map, Douro and Deseronto are misspelled. DMighton 10:20, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
CJHL Map -- Glouchester is Gloucester, Napean is Nepean
GOJHL Map -- Seems to be good, anyway we could get all of "Fort Erie" on the map or shrink the text in the Key to fit inside the key box?
Good job, I like them. After you do the OPJHL, if you are still interested, the Ontario Hockey League and Western Hockey League could use a map update... and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League might benefit from it. Just a thought. DMighton 20:06, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

List of municipalities in the Golden Horseshoe

Hi Vidioman,

I loved your addition to the article, it makes the article (or rather list), one step closer to perfection. To tell you what, I like this edition with all the municipalities more over than this edition with just all the regional municipalities. Here's what I would suggest:

  1. Move your Sandbox 1 Edition (So with ALL the municipalities) to the List of municipalities in the Golden Horseshoe]].
  2. Move your Sandbox 2 Edition (So with ALL the regional municipalities) into a template (they are too good to be a list, and plus, if we put them into the actual list, information will become very redundant.) I would be doing an experimental version of the template in my own sandbox. However, you can merge some info onto the actual list, i.e. the area and population.

Thanks for your suggestion!
