Family Day

Hello, I wanted to comment on your deletion of my paragraph regarding same-sex marriage in Alberta from the Family Day article. Do you see an acceptable way where some mention of the current status of same-sex marriage in Alberta could be acknowledged in the article? My intent is not to promote same-sex marriage, but to illustrate a connection between this holiday and the Government of Alberta's policies that promote the exclusively heterosexual definition of marriage. Alberta is the only province with a "Family Day", and I would suspect that they offer little to no recognition of same-sex families in their Family Day programs. I welcome your comments, Kurieeto 09:28, Apr 14, 2005 (UTC)

  • The only way I could see it being relevant is if Family Day has been prominently used in rhetoric by either side of the debate in Alberta. Back when I lived in Alberta, same-sex marriage wasn't a prominent issue, and Family Day was generally treated as just another day off, with no particular celebrations of the family scheduled. Now that it is an issue, I've never heard of the rhetoric on either side stepping up during Family Day. Silly Dan 12:11, 2005 Apr 14 (UTC)

Mulhacen

Re list of peaks by prominence, thank you for spotting that Mulhacen is in Spain. It is certainly given in Spain in the reference data. Viewfinder 04:43, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

dont be jealous, not everyone can be smart — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swainstonation (talkcontribs)

    • "A phobia (from the Greek φόβος "fear"), is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities, or persons"

phobia mens fear not hatred, duhhhhh — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swainstonation (talkcontribs)

  • The word homophobia means irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals. It can also mean hatred of and disparagement of homosexual people, their lifestyle, their sexual behavior, or culture, and is generally used to assert bigotry. Opposition to same-sex activism on religious, moral, or political grounds is also generally referred to as "homophobic".Silly Dan (talk) 23:23, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Neighbourhood

You edited "neighborhood" to "neighbourhood" in the Edmonton article. It has been established on Misplaced Pages for some time that, because of the international scope of this endeavor, both British and American spellings are equally valid, and that the only important consideration is, that within an article, there be consistency of spelling. It was not necessary for you to make this change. Denni 23:41, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

re:So where do I report impersonations, then?

Although I wasn't referring to you in particular when I said "others incorrectly listed," I have taken into consideration your concerns with the users in question. They are now blocked. My initial concern was that you didn't follow the instructions listed on the WP:AIV page. Thanks for pointing it out though --Jay(Reply) 14:33, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

More impersonators

Thanks, Dan. And remember. If they've spelled "Ellipsis" correctly, then it's not me. ....(Complain) 21:32, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
