Weserstadion is a multi-use stadium in Bremen, Germany. It is currently used mostly for football matches. It is the home stadium of local football team Werder Bremen
The stadium is scenically situated on the north bank of the Weser River and is surrounded by lush green parks. The city center is only about a kilometer away.
It presented a bid to be a host city in the 2006 FIFA World Cup which was ultimately turned down. But Werder Bremen's continous success in the Bundesliga and there usual forays in European competition has seen the stadium get much needed publicity.
Trivia
- Despite losing 3-1 to Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich scored its 3,000th goal in the Bundesliga on October 21, 2006. The goalscorer was Roy Makaay.
