"Missing" is an episode of the science fiction television series Stargate Atlantis. It originally aired on November 9, 2007.
Plot
Dr. Keller and Teyla travel to New Athos to perform routine medical checkups on the Athosians, but when they reach the village they find it completely deserted. As they search for clues as to what has happened, Teyla begins to suspect an attack by the Wraith.
A small group of non-Athosians arrive at the camp but rather than confront them Teyla pulls Keller away to hide in the forest (leaving behind her radio). Recognizing their facial markings, she tells the doctor that the unknown men are Bola Kai and are dangerous savages. They flee through the forest, making their way back to the Stargate. Keller falls, spraining her ankle, and discards her gear.
They find the Stargate surrounded by Bola Kai, and are quickly discovered by them, forcing Keller and Teyla to run again. They elude capture, but the Bola Kai begin to organize for a hunt. Teyla tells Keller of a weapons cache that the Atlantis team had left behind for the Athosians. She believes their best chance for survival would be to find the weapons and elude capture until a rescue party was likely to arrive from Atlantis.
They retrieve the gear that Keller has left behind in the forest and use it to treat Keller's injury. While treating her sprained ankle, Keller laments that she is not cut out for this kind of stress. Teyla tries to encourage Keller by saying that people are usually unaware of the amount of discomfort they can tolerate. They continue on to find the weapons cache, but it is empty. Both women have no idea what could have happened to the weapons as the Bola Kai obviously do not have them and the Athosians could have used the weapons to easily fight off the savages. As they continue, Keller and Teyla reach an Athosian-built rope bridge spanning a ravine. Keller is reluctant to cross, citing vertigo (among other things) and nearly falls off the bridge, but is rescued by Teyla. Continuing through the forest, Teyla reveals that the Bola Kai are cannibals when they are suddenly attacked by a group of Bola Kai. Teyla easily defeats all of them in fierce melee combat, brutally killing them to Keller's horror. After the fight, they come across a Bola Kai prisoner who is severely wounded. Keller decides to stay to treat his wound. Teyla objects, stating that the stranger is not Athosian, but ultimately agrees with Keller. After treating him, they take the stranger to a secure place to camp for the night, where he reveals that he is actually a Genii spy planted with the Athosians in order to keep track of them. He tells Keller and Teyla that the Athosians are all dead, and that the Bola Kai are Wraith worshipers who revealed the location of the Athosians to the Wraith, who promptly culled the village.
The next morning, as Keller struggles to eat, Teyla confides in her that she'd started a relationship with a long time friend, an Athosian from New Athos, who she will now have to grieve. A Bola Kai arrives and gets caught in one of Teyla's traps. It is only a matter of time before more Bola Kai arrive, so Keller, Teyla, and the spy are forced to run. However, the Bola Kai catch up to them and completely surround them. Keller and Teyla are quickly subdued and captured while the Genii manages to escape.
Meanwhile, Sheppard attempts to contact Teyla and the Athosians, but cannot reach them. Keller and Teyla are tied up and placed in a cage as prisoners. They are then brought to the Bola Kai leader (played by Danny Trejo), who begins to interrogate them. Teyla accuses the Bola Kai of killing her people. However, the Bola Kai leader is confused, saying that his people are also being hunted by the Wraith and that the village had already been deserted. In order to buy time, Keller gives the Bola Kai a gate address to an uninhabited planet. Meanwhile Sheppard, Ronon, and McKay arrive in a Jumper to look for Teyla and Keller.
At the camp, the Genii spy arrives and frees Keller and Teyla from their cage, but then betrays them, holding them at gunpoint and tying up Teyla. When he demands the gate address to Atlantis, Keller realizes that the spy is not Genii at all, and accuses him of being the Wraith worshiper. He admits to lying about being Genii and implies that he may have lied about the fate of the Athosians. Teyla manages to trip their captor and Keller overcomes her fear and aversion to violence, attacking the spy and ultimately subduing him. Teyla begins to interrogate him further for information about the Athosians, but the Bola Kai arrive, surrounding them. Sheppard's team arrives and the Bola Kai run off, but more Bola Kai arrive and the team is then forced to retreat. Meanwhile the spy has disappeared.
Back at Atlantis, Teyla is in the infirmary for her injuries. Sheppard tells her that the Bola Kai had disappeared as well as the spy, and that they are still investigating the fate of the Athosians. Teyla swears she will find whoever is responsible for the disappearance of her people and will make them pay.
After Sheppard leaves, Keller privately approaches her. She tells Teyla that she's just gone over some test results and that there is something she must tell her. The episode ends with Teyla's expression of concern.
