Harry Lloyd

Harry Lloyd (born 17 November 1983) is an English television actor, most famous for his role as Will Scarlett in Robin Hood.

Biography

Lloyd was born in London, England. He is the great-great-great-grandson of the Victorian writer Charles Dickens - his mother's maiden name is Dickens. Lloyd was educated at Eton College and while there, he was cast as young Steerforth in the 1999 David Copperfield and then in 2002, he was cast as young Rivers in Goodbye Mr Chips. Lloyd went on to study English at Christ Church, Oxford, where he joined the Oxford University Dramatic Society appearing in several plays, he appeared in the role of Valentin in Kiss of the Spider Woman and as Antipholus of Syracuse in Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors for the OUDS 2005 Summer tour to Japan alongside Felicity Jones. He left Oxford in 2005, graduating with an upper second degree. He recently graduated from Oxford University on July 26, 2007 .

He has gone on to play Will Scarlett in both series of the BBC drama series Robin Hood which began in 2006.

In early 2007 Lloyd made his professional stage debut, at the Trafalgar Studios in A Gaggle of Saints of three short plays that make up Neil LaBute's Bash for which he received many positive reviews .

In 2007 he played Jeremy Baines, a student whose mind is taken over by a species of aliens called 'The Family of Blood', in the Doctor Who episodes "Human Nature" and "The Family of Blood". He has since been suggested as a possible candidate to play the Doctor when David Tennant leaves the role, based on a comment made by Russell T. Davies in an Interview with PR Wire.

He appears in the forthcoming mini series Heroes and Villains: Richard the Lion Heart. He will next work on The Family Plays at the Royal Court Theatre, and in 2008 will appear in The Sea at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket.
