::Yeah.... ''That'' kind of attitude, with the blatant disregard for civility or good faith (or the original reason for your block; namely, concern for the privacy of someone who contributed to it), is the sort of thing that helps keep bans active. It's certainly understandable that you feel wronged, but that doesn't justify projecting those feelings as maliciousness on the part of others. NewyorkBrad and Nick have offered excellent advice above should you wish to edit again at Misplaced Pages. The opportunity to practically and provably demonstrate your good intentions, by aiding the project in areas like Commons or Simple, will carry far more weight than a simple request/promise when you next pursue unblocking. — ] 00:51, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Revision as of 00:51, 20 December 2007

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Defender 911 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I agree not to: 1. Recreate the Resource center 2. Pursue the identity of User:H

Decline reason:

After reviewing your contributions, I see very little that are positive with much of your previous behavior consisting of significant disruption. Per the indefinite blocks section of Misplaced Pages's blocking policy, I am of the opinion that an indef block was appropriate, and so am declining this request. — Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 23:47, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Is this a joke?

I've introduced the Barnstar of Peace and devoted most of my time here to the help of otheer users. I was blocked for helping another user! Aside from the H case, what have I done wrong?!? --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 01:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

You were blocked for disruption, not for helping another user. What user were you referring to? --Mark (Mschel) 14:44, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
H. And asking for contact info is NOT disruption. Even if it was, an indefinite block is WAY too strict. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 20:31, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
And I said, "Aside from the H case, what have I done wrong?" --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 20:51, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
You interfered with a fellow user's right to vanish, and it went to the extent of severe harassment. You are not allowed to edit Misplaced Pages under any username because of this at the moment (see WP:BAN). However, see my thread below. Maser 06:02, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

I support unblock

Look, guys, the disruption he caused was quite unwelcome, yes, and he did interfere with a users right to vanish, but I for one think that, after a six month site ban, this user probably learned his lesson. And after viewing his contributions, he was once a valued editor. So long as he promises not to continue to do what got him blocked before, I think we should give him one last chance. Maser 05:59, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

A discussion is currently taking place at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard#User:Defender 911. No administrator should unblock without first consulting that discussion and ensuring a consensus exists to do so. I will leave this talk page unprotected in the meantime so that Defender 911 can add his comments, which can be copied from here to the noticeboard discussion by a not-banned editor. However, abuse of the talk page (including incivility, personal attacks, harassment and use of the {{unblock}} template — an unblock will not/should not be executed without consensus at the discussion, so it will otherwise be forum shopping which is not permissable) by Defender 911 will result in this page being protected from editing and severing the communication link between Defender 911 and the noticeboard. Daniel 06:48, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. I'll look over the noticeboard. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 12:34, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Please post on Administrators' noticeboard:

I understand that some of you might not want me unblocked, but all I wanted to do was help H. I did not expect a four-month block and the deletion of most of my user page space. I understand now that my disruption was wrong, and I hope that I can be reaccepted into the community. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 15:11, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

My contributions to my own page were an attempt to help others. I couldn't get the project onto the Misplaced Pages mainspace, so I set it up here. Also: Should a user remain blocked based only on his/her edits? --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 18:41, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
The allegation is that many of your more troublesome edits have been WP:OVERsighted, so it's impossible for hoi polloi like myself to prop up your reputation from some complete unknown. If you were spewing private information about an editor over half the wikipedia, that's going to be problematic. I'm still awaiting details from WT:OVER though. -- Kendrick7 19:34, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Striking the above. Doesn't seem to have actually been the case, nor was there any oversighting, per WT:OVER#Oversighting of User:Defender 911's edits on 11 August. -- Kendrick7 17:36, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Response to User:B;Please post on Administrators' noticeboard:
The issue that has come up is if a permanant block is superfluous, especially for a first block. There is no question that what happened cannot be accepted by Misplaced Pages, but a four month block, in my opinion is far too long. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 01:31, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

If unblocked

Listen, you are not in any position of respect on Misplaced Pages. However, if you are fortunate enough to be unblockd, you have to agree to three things:

1) You must respect WP:RTV: The user in question left Misplaced Pages under very serious circumstances. To violate another user's privacy, even and especially after it is revealed that the user does not wish too have further contact with anybody regarding the circumstances of their departure, is not acceptable.

2) You have to start contributing to the encyclopedia: It is alright to occasionally tak with fellow editors; we are a community, after all. However, when you have about one-tenth of your edits to the mainspace,it becomes somewhat of an issue. You see, Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia, and not a social networking site. It is therefore important that you do work on articles more often.

3) You must not disrupt Misplaced Pages to illustrate a point, or harass other users: If you wish to illustrate a point, do so by explaining yourself calmly, instead of going to the talk pages of several administrators and asking them all to make contact with a user respecting his or her right to vanish. This is the real reason for your block; you caused a lot of disruption on other user's talk pages doing these actions. To put this abstractly, when an issue is resolved, just drop it and move on. Yes, your intentions were not bad and I think you can become a good editor, but this form of conduct is not acceptable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maser Fletcher (talkcontribs) 06:25, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

I accept these terms, however I'd like to request the restoration of my userpage. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 20:55, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately for you, Defender, no administrator is willing to unblock at this time. Therefore, your best course of action is to appeal to WP:ARBCOM, who are traditionally known to unban users. I recommend waiting a few months longer, though. Maser 03:06, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I'll wait three months, and will occasionally edit my talk page. I hope, however, that I won't take abuse due to my "record".--Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 21:43, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
(edit conflict) If you want me to file a formal appeal to ArbCom on your behalf, let me know, although I might not get to it for a few days. I don't believe you've been treated particularly fairly here. -- Kendrick7 —Preceding comment was added at 21:45, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. If turned down, I'll just wait. But still, thank you. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 21:57, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm gonna try to see if I can open up a case as well ... I agree with Kendrick, you've been treated far worse than people who have been more disruptive and haven't bothered to apologize. Blueboy96 23:20, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Case filed. Now let's see what happens next. Blueboy96 00:00, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Not much luck. Maybe I'm better off leaving; I'm not wanted here. I can't get a chance to even make up for what I've done. I should just go-almost everyone hates me for what I've done. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 01:43, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

For what it is worth, I can see an argument for giving this user another chance, although I am obviously not going to unblock against this strong a consensus. My suggestion is that you start contributing to another wiki or website, avoid the mistakes that you made here, bear in mind the lessons you have learned, and reapply again for an unblock after a few more months have passed. Best of luck to you. Newyorkbrad (talk) 01:52, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

I have to say, I echo Newyorkbrad's comments, you may wish to try editing Wikimedia Commons or Simple Misplaced Pages for a few months, and once you have a strong track record of positive contributions, I'm sure we will be quite happy to look at any unblock request. I would also say, hate is a very strong word, I certainly don't hate you and I don't think anybody else does. Nick (talk) 18:04, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

"Hate" is a strong word. It's also true. *Misplaced Pages is no community; it runs itself like a corporation. Misplaced Pages's only goals are for itself, with no regard for the people who contribute to it. The administrators here are no better than I was four months ago, and , to be honest, I don't even thing I caused enough disruption for a ban this long. The sysops I've met are the most hateful, disrespectful, power-hungry, unforgiving people I've ever met - and I've hardly met them! I'm well past caring about being accused of a personal attack, because that's exactly how I felt for four months!!! I ought to leave Misplaced Pages; I'm not wanted here.--Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 20:15, 19 December 2007 (UTC)*
