Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

semi-protect. In the past three days, all but three edits to this page have been IP vandalism and the reverting thereof. The sad thing is--they're totally different IPs, so I can't even console myself that it's just ONE user. (sigh)Gladys J Cortez 00:44, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

full-protect. This article is the repeated victim of mass deletions of content and inappropriate flagging. These are the actions of a small group of editors, who consistently refuse to engage the concerned community . In response, I am going through the mediation process; I have asked for a mediation cabal currently. Today they responded by nominating the article for speedy deletion. I am looking to preserve the page until mediation has resolved the issue.wikiwatcher9999 (talk) 00:32, 7 January 2008 (UTC)wikieditor9999

temporary full protection Article is constantly being reverted from its current, factually correct state to a version that is politically slanted towards Taiwanese independence. Users reverting (usually IP addresses) claim the article as it is is pro-PRC despite not indicating how it is pro-PRC. These revisions occur constantly, especially when there is a note at the top of the article stating not to edit the certain aspects of the article unless a consensus is made on the talk page. The article is of a politically sensitive nature and protection is needed at least until late March. Butterfly0fdoom (talk) 22:43, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

semi-protection Article is subject to IP vandalism from different IPs on almost a daily basis, and has been for some time. The vast majority of edits to the page basically consist of IP/new account vandalism and reverting said vandalism--since December 25 for instance the article has been vandalized about 30 times. Subject seems to be visible enough that it would fulfill requirements #1 and #2 for semi-protection. DanielEng (talk) 22:39, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Weeaboo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

It redirects to the wrong place, and I don't see why it is protected.

Weeaboo should redirect to Otaku or possilby Japanophile...

It probably doesn't merit a full article by itself though...but if this isn't fixed one might need to be created.

Declined See Misplaced Pages:Redirects for discussion. John Reaves 19:05, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Future temporary full protection Fully protect it during the release day. The article have a long history of bad rushed edits with no references that usually ending up reverted. The talk page for the article is so long it has been archived multiple times, there is a lot of discussion about even the most minor things. There is a big risk that the actual release will make people too happy for their own good. I think that the few people who can edit protected articles is likely to be interested enough in the subject to keep it updated during the release day. The page has been semi-protected regularly, but I feel that a full protection is needed for the release date.Henke37 (talk) 18:47, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

    Intelligent design (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Page was protected after the matter was resolved. There never was an edit war.

I made a suggestion about attributing a view, and User:Dave souza reverted it. (1RR, perfectly normal)

I thought his rv reason was insufficient, so I reverted his rv. (1RR, happens a lot if not "normal")

Dave reverted back. (2RR, pushing the envelope but not a violation)

I am on parole, so a second reversion on my part would be 2RR. But I only made one revert (Dave made two reverts, which is fine with me).

After this, I wrote on Dave's page indicating that I understood his reasoning and then decided to let his reversion stand, because I did not want to revert any further.

He even wrote back that he "supports Ed" by which I assume he means that our discussion is going somewhere fruitful.

I don't see how this constitutes an edit war, so I request that the page be unprotected.

Meanwhile, there is plenty of discussion at Talk:Intelligent design about the matter in question, and I have no intention of going against consensus about it. --Uncle Ed (talk) 15:20, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

unprotection The page is currently protected from recreation and has been previously deleted as violating CSD A7 (that was 9 months ago, the article definitely passes notability criteria now) and CSD G11. I was looking for the article yesterday and was very surprised not to find one. Any chance of getting the page unprotected to create an article that won't violate CSD G11? Cheers!
