The Artful Dodger are a UK Garage band, who became famous through their 2Step hits and gave Craig David's career a boost after he appeared on the number 2 hit "Re-Rewind When the Crowd Say Bo Selecta" in December 1999.
The band are Mark Hill and Peter Devereux but Devereux left prior to the Twenty Four Seven single release and Hill will continue to produce records under the Artful Dodger moniker.
All of their subsequent hit singles have also been collaborations :- Romina Johnson "Movin' too Fast" (number 2 in March 2000), Robbie Craig and Craig David "Woman Trouble" (number 6 in July 2000), Lifford "Please Don't Turn Me On" (number 4 in November 2000), , Michelle Escoffery "Think About Me" (number 11 in March 2001), and former All Saints member Melanie Blatt "Twenty Four Seven" (number 11 in September 2001). They are associated with Pete Tong's FFRR Records label.
There is also a punk band named The Artful Dodger.
