Melanie Hernandez Calumpad (a.k.a. Kyla) (born January 5 1981) is a singer from the Philippines. She is popularly known as the R&B Princess of the Philippines

R&B princess Kyla is one of the Philippine’s most important young artist. Not only has she won in many prestigious songwriting and singing contests (HIMIG, Metropop, Tanghalan ng Kampeon, Metropop Star Quest) locally, but has astounded people with her Brandy-meets-Aaliyah vocals. She, too, has won MTV and AWIT trophies on top of being named Breakthrough Artist Best Female Artist by several radio stations several times."

Kyla first won our hearts in 1993 when she bagged the Grand Prize in the popular "Tanghalan ng Kampeon." After several other talent competitions, losing some and winning most, Kyla was signed to EMI Philippines and immediately released her debut album, "Way To Your Heart." After churning out hit singles-that biggest of which is the soaring "Hanggang Ngayon"-Kyla released a string of fantastic albums that contained superb hits.

Her 4th album, Kyla's "Not Your Ordinary Girl" is a testament to just how extraordinary this cute little star is. Here, people will be impressed because Kyla exhibits no effort to show off. She only gives what is needed. No more, and more importantly, no less. She's elegantly silly and stylishly sweet and grippingly funky and painfully talented. She's Kyla and she most certainly ain't your Ordinary Girl.
