Pyrzyce (German: Pyritz), is a town in Pomerania, north-western Poland, capital of Pyrzyce County in West Pomeranian Voivodship (or region) with some 11,000 inhabitants.

An anonymous medieval document of ca. 850, called Bavarian Geographer mentions the tribe of Pyritzans who have 70 strongholds (Prissani civitates LXX. )
