Hi Corin | |||
Since I was only creating an short information page for people to view new and upcoming manga titles, I thought it would be alright to copy the public sypnopsis provided on the publisher's website. Not to mention that I also work at that same publishing company and even wrote those summaries myself (my name is in the credits section of each of the mangas)
However, to make things less complicated, I have rewritten the contents for the two pages "Seduce Me After the Show" and "Nephilim" so please scan over them again and let me know if there are still problems.
Also, regarding those Walkin Butterfly pictures, please delete as I have tried, but could not find a way to do. |

- If you have copied text to which you own the copyright: Please read the guide to donating your own copyrighted material to Misplaced Pages. Note that, in addition to copyright requirements, the article must still comply with notability guidelines, advertising prohibition and avoid conflicts of interest.
- If you have been given permission to reuse someone else's text: Please read the guide to requesting and formalizing permission to use copyrighted works on Misplaced Pages. As above, the article must still comply with notability guidelines, advertising prohibition and avoid conflicts of interest.
- If you were attempting to rename an article or create a disambiguation page: Compliance with the GFDL requires that the article be actually moved rather than copied with cut-and-paste to preserve editing history. Please tag the new copy with
{{db-move}}
and an administrator will be able to assist you.
- If the original source was itself a copy of Misplaced Pages text: Reusing the text is probably okay, but make sure you link back to the original article to comply with the GFDL. If the site CSBot found is a Misplaced Pages mirror, you may want to notify me so I can add it to the list for the future.
- If the original source is in the public domain: Reusing the text is okay, but you almost certainly want to attribute it with an appropriate template (such as
{{DANFS}}
or{{1911}}
); this will cause CSBot to leave the article alone.- If you did attribute it with an appropriate template, but it was still flagged as a copyvio, then it's probable the bot does not know the template you have used. You might want to tell me on this page so I can add it to the list.
Otherwise, remember that text found on other web pages is copyrighted by default. Unless there is an explicit permission on the page (or site) allowing reuse without conditions (or under the GFDL) you can not use that text in a Misplaced Pages article!
Thank you!

Hey Coren. You have full permission to use the Tony Incenzo interview from the TalkSport web site as I am the author of the article.

I am a little annoyed. eTrafficJams.com/Getupdated.com is an internationally traded company worth hundreds of millions of dollars. You have companies on your website worth significantly less and you are deleting this page. This makes absolutely no sense. Ultracomputer
Ultracomputer is a significant processor design in the history of parallel computing. The system has N processors, N memories and an N log N message-passing switch connecting them. The switch uses an innovative Fetch-and-Add instruction which will combine references from several processors into a single reference, to reduce memory contention.
(Above text I will add to page.)
(Text in page is from ancient Ultracomputer project website, I will reduce use of it.)

As it ask'd it of me, I'll tell you your search bot identified 9965 GNU and 9964 Hideyonoguchi as copies of each other. They're pretty similar, so I'm not surprised, but I thought I'd tell you anyhow.
Cheers, WilyD 22:51, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

User:Raggz
Hi Coren,
Just wondering if you gave that "stern warning" to User:Raggz? He's still engaged in disruptive editing of articles relating to the US government and international affairs. For example, he's just added another patently false claim to Human Rights, which is not in any way supported by his source (that the UN Security Council is "the final authority for the interpretation of the United Nations Charter").
(And he keeps adding the word "security" to the end of a direct quote by Alan Greenspan (outside the quotation marks, but it still changes the meaning of the quote). And claiming, in a section heading, that the theory that the invasion of Iraq had something to do with oil is a "conspiracy theory". How's that for a neutral point of view?)

IC 443 - free astro images
Dear Coren,
you claimed I uploaded images protected by copyright, but you are wrong. First, I wrote to the owner of ic43_wide.jpg, who is aware that the image is on Misplaced Pages and he is very happy about that. I have several email that can prove it. Second, the image fov.jpg is made with public data, that everyone can download from NASA website, and combine with easy astronomical tools. I feel not to violate any rule or copyright by using them. For the above reasons, I urge you to restore the old version as soon as possible.

Request for scan for possible copyright violations
ResolvedI have been running through the edits of an editor who seems to have copied text from numerous sites to numerous articles. It's rather tedious work. Is there a way to tag articles for automated scans by CSB? - Mdsummermsw (talk) 22:01, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

- That's pretty much unavoidable, I'm afraid. They are very much similar articles (almost identical if you exclude the proper names and dates), and the expansive infobox pushes the article to bigger than the lower limit. Short of whitelisting the creator, there is little that can be done except remove the tag when placed. — Coren 16:48, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Your bot tagged Thomas Gordon Thompson as a possible copyright violation. The text was copied from the U.S. Navy's DANFS . Since it's in the public domain, a lot of other websites copy the text of DANFS articles, Navsource.org among them.

This page is strikingly similar to his official website because I'm his manager and am in charge of all the information on the official page.
All information on his website is owned by Mr. Sords and/or myself. As his manager I have access to this information and am allowed to copy it as I so choose.
Thank you, Shortright (talk) 15:31, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Edit: I have checked the conflict of interest pages and feel that I am in compliance. I do not have any advertisement for Mr. Sords on this page and barely make reference to my company but am more than willing to remove that if it proves to be an issue. There is no mention of myself on the page at all. As far as notability restriction, Mr. Sords falls squarely into the exemption noted as such "The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by their peers or successors". Mr. Sords is considered one of the best violinists on the concert circuit at this time. You can retrieve reviews of his performances in major newspapers in the states in which he's played which often times include quotes from his teachers, successors and peers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shortright (talk • contribs) 16:10, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

This page has text closely related with a page on the www.winchcombepottery.co.uk site which has alerted your Coren Bot. Mike Finch runs the pottery and the website and, as his brother, I am trying to make the Misplaced Pages page, which is clearly needed as the pottery is mentioned several times in Misplaced Pages. Highways... again
I hate to sound like a broken tape player, but Arbcom has been mostly quiet about our case. An issue came up over the last few days where NE2 was a bit needlessly provocative with his words and actions, so this is concerning. --Rschen7754 (T C) 02:43, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- I hate to annoy you, but I think you should read Misplaced Pages:Requests for arbitration/Highways 2/Evidence#By setting the bar of article quality way too high, and by incivil and illogical remarks, NE2 has made USRD an unhealthy environment by being needlessly provocative. The evidence is basically saying that I don't follow the bureaucracy of a process that's supposed to be unbureaucratic, and is actually pretty representative of the way Rschen7754 and others do things. --NE2 03:07, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Given that I am a clerk and that I am handling the case, it would be quite inappropriate of me to comment on the merits of the case or on the quality of any piece of evidence put forth by the parties. If either of you feel that the conditions placed on the Wikiproject have not been respected, the proper place to state so is on the Arbitration Enforcement page, where uninvolved editors and administrators (and arbitrators) can evaluate if further action is warranted. In any case, be assured that the behavior of all parties during the arbitration will be examined and assessed by the arbitrators. — Coren 03:14, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- This has nothing to do with the conditions placed on the project. It's just another unnecessary flare-up, and I have no idea what kind of evidence or remedies to propose to deal with it. I'd rather work on articles anyway. --NE2 03:21, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Corenbot's Copyvio Message
I think it's a nifty tool, but it needs to distinguish between other Web sites' taking contents off Misplaced Pages with actual copyright violations. I just created Wei Anshi, for example, which immediately drew the bot's believing that it was a copy of another Web site's taking of the contents of Princess Taiping, which is a little odd, at least. --Nlu (talk) 03:42, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- That's actually almost impossible to prevent a priori. What I do is when a new mirror that ranks high enough in search engine scores to pop up is ferreted out (like this), we add it to the exclusion list so that it will never count as a "match" again. — Coren 03:52, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Whitelist
Any way you can whitelist administrators and the articles they create from getting their articles tagged by your bot? See this edit. I highly doubt there will be any time that such a tagging would be legitimate when an admin is the creator. VegaDark (talk) 07:03, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it's possible but it would slow down CSBot a lot and increase server load further. And it's also probably not that great an idea either: CSBot is also a guard against mistakes and it occurred several time that admins did get an article tagged quite legitimately (sometimes from WP:AFC). :-) — Coren 13:25, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

I understand why this message was posted on my talk page and had I accidentally duplicated a page it would have been most helpful. However, I don't see why the bot also posted it at WP:SCV since, by definition, Misplaced Pages pages are licensed for re-use? I should be grateful if you would advise. BlueValour (talk) 02:14, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- That's because Misplaced Pages pages are licensed for reuse with attribution, which means that a copy of a Misplaced Pages page still has to be checked for Copyright compliance. Additionally, most cut and paste of Misplaced Pages articles are mistaken attempts at rename, which lose the history and are also copyright problems. — Coren 02:34, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Is there any real solution to this problem that you can foresee? I rely on SA for his perspective on WTB, and I can tell that others do for other articles. Problem is, once you start to rely on him, he crashes against the guardrail and is out of the race for a few days. It's also pretty obvious that people like to see whether they can make him crash or not. Is there a solution? Or is it just a tragedy destined to unfold slowly before our eyes?Kww (talk) 17:16, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- I doubt there is a real, durable solution. SA is a beacon of rationality in a sea of woowoo; and that's gradually taking its toll on him. Short of "protecting" him from the infinite supply of trolls that work hard at making him pop, there's little we can do (and, indeed, it's difficult to do that without becoming unfair or "taking sides").
And we get little help from him— he's got quite a temper and thus will be trolled. Over and over. — Coren 17:31, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Clueless bots?
- Well Coren, part of that sonnet (On the Late Massacre in Piedmont) was already quoted in WikiQuote, I just added it as a new page. It is in the public domain. John Milton died a few centuries ago, and your bot needs to get a little more clever to check the authorship, and check WikiQuote to see if the material is already in Wikepedia. In my opinion Misplaced Pages bots are generally clueless, and need to get more clever with the use of artificial intelligence techniques. History2007 (talk) 08:31, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well, you are more than welcome to solve the Strong AI problem. Hi Coren!
Since I've found you in the recent AfD on Adult-child sex not too opposed to the general idea to strengthen our encyclopedia with reliable, comprehensive, substantial, and essential material also on unpopular topics, and since you obviously have a basic grasp of German, I've been meaning to ask about your support.
A thought I've been harboring lately is putting up an essay within my userspace on the main source for my draft (which is Bleibtreu-Ehrenberg 1985/88) to one day maybe be moved to Misplaced Pages, WikiBooks, or WikiEssays. I'd once put this up on the German Misplaced Pages as an article and it held up for half a year, from May 2006 until January 2007, until someone on a personal revenge crusade removed it by means of an AfD (where votes were split 50:50 and of course most wanting to get it deleted did nothing more than point to their severe disgust, although that AfD actually lasted for 2 months before it was closed). This essay of mine was actually so influential that I found literal quotes lifted from it in a nation-wide newspaper endorsing them, that literal quotes were endorsed by a German General Medical Council, and just the same with an official brochure issued by an Austrian government department, I found my very own words in all those cases. Googling for it, I found that a number of people had saved personal backups of the article in various places on the web, and there also were several forums debating its content while linking to my article on Misplaced Pages.
So, I've been meaning to ask you if you'd be willing to have a look at my German essay after I'll have put it up in my userspace here on the English Misplaced Pages and tell me whether you think it's a good idea for me to translate it to English and for the time being leaving it as the draft of an English Misplaced Pages article in my userspace to one day maybe be moved to Misplaced Pages, WikiBooks, or WikiEssays. The basic idea of this essay of mine is a Misplaced Pages article on an existing work (Bleibtreu-Ehrenberg 1985/88), comparable to articles such as Civilization and Its Discontents and Dialectic of Enlightenment. --TlatoSMD (talk) 04:22, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Marshall Sklare Award
Hi, regarding your bot. It's true that much of the text so far from Marshall Sklare Award comes from the awarding agency's website. However, the reason is that most of the info is a list of the swardees and their speeches. Please let me know. Thanks. HG | Talk 17:56, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Regarding Elections Act 2001
Hi, I wrote this article and your bot found a false-positive, claiming it was infringed from http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2001/ukpga_20010007_en_1 - I don't believe it is a "substantial copy" as I wrote the prose myself from scratch based on the act - it basically contains facts. Perhaps it's a little oversensitive? -Halo (talk) 08:04, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
you refused the bio I wrote
Hi, I wrote a bio for my booking agency. I tried to copy paste it, and I can't because some legal issue. But this comes from MY page and I wrote it. Should I authorize myself to put it? So please make sure I can add it to wikipedia. thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swjazz (talk • contribs) 15:57, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

National Academy of Education
The page I just posted about the National Academy of Education was deleted for copyright reasons. I am an employee of the organization being described and we would like to enter some description information about NAEd on the site. I do have permission to post the info on Wiki, but will get an email from the Executive Director confirming that. Asolarz (talk) 19:05, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey, would it be possible to adapt the code to the Hebrew Misplaced Pages? Possible issues are the face that Hebrew is a right-to-left language. Yonatan 21:49, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Heywood Hill Prize
I copied the text describing the award from http://facstaff.unca.edu/moseley/misc.html#hill not realizing it is considered proprietary. Now I'll try writing a description of my own. If that does not serve, please tell me what to do. I'm trying to fix a red link in the Michael Holroyd article. Thank you for detecting my infraction!Wugo (talk) 03:58, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Anna (name)
Responding as requested by bot. This duplicate content was not in error. I was in the process of splitting Anna by dividing content between it and the new Anna (name). Thanks for your vigilance. SlackerMom (talk) 15:23, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

TracyLinkEdnaVelmaPenny edits need attention
You recently blocked User:TracyLinkEdnaVelmaPenny, so I want to alert you that this editor needs further attention. He/She is currently steamrolling through film articles making edits that appear to be well-intentioned, but result in significant cleanup. The editor knows enough about guidelines to be dangerous, since knowledge and practice appear to be incomplete. For example, she/he is systematically removing maintenance tags without correcting the relevant issues. For many edits (not a single edit summary among them), the valid changes are so intertwined with the erroneous ones, that it is easier to revert all of them rather than trying to address them individually. Unfortunately, the editor is not responding to a single comment or request on her/his Talk page. Would you mind taking another look and suggesting an action to bring this editor into a productive and collaborative mode? Thanks.

BAG Changes
Hello. You may remember, some time ago, joining the BAG under the trial "open membership" system. Based on a lack of opposition to a reversion of this trial, I have now decided to be bold and perform it. The BAG has returned to a system under which users must go through a short period of discussion (like RfA, but less formal) before being added to the group by either a 'crat or an existing member. At the moment, I have said that discussions should last for 10 days and that community noticeboards should be spammed to encourage participation in each request - evidently this is to avoid the "cabal" impression.
As you have already been a member for some time, you're likely to be an excellent candidate to apply to the group and I encourage you to do so. Alternatively, if you totally disagree with my changes and fail to see any merit in them at all, I'm hoping to take part in discussions on WT:BAG. Though I must ask now if I may - please don't revert me without a decent amount of discussion first. Thanks, and if you have any questions about what I've done, please leave me a message, send an email or chat on IRC. Martinp23 17:29, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

similarity and radio stations
Radio stations may look very similar due to common callsigns but AM and FM stations are different and should have different articles. Your bot should take this into consideration.--Rtphokie (talk) 02:01, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Articles Re-edited
Hi Corin
