Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) is a term used to describe the armed forces of Israel by pro-Palestinian advocates. The term contrasts with the official name of the Israel Defense Forces, which they regard as deeply misleading. It has become standard terminology for the Palestinian Authority's International Press Center and the Palestinian Center for Human Rights. Ben Mor of Haifa University cites it as an example of reframing discussion of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Norman Finkelstein recommends against using the term, saying it makes one appear to be propagandizing.
