However, Guns and Gardner left the band just before the start of the band's first tour. They were quickly replaced by a young, half African American guitarist, from England, named Slash, and a young, blond Californian drummer named Steven Adler. The new, more known lineup looked like this:

In June of 1985, the band set off on it's first tour, called ''The Hell Tour'', but it wasn't a success. They had a home in Los Angeles, called ''The Hell House'', which they met at after the tour. They played in many clubs, such as the famous Whiskey club, and gained notoriety.

*'']'' - Their first LP under ] in 1987, sold 20 million copies, had three top 10 singles, and hit #1 on the charts

In 1986, the released their first album, ''Live $@*^* Like a Suicide'', on their independant Uzi Suicide label. The 10,000 copies were quickly sold. The next year, they released their first full album, called ''Appetite for Destruction'', which quickly climbed the charts.
Shortly after the release of "Lies", drummer Steve Adler was dismissed from the band, reportedly due to his unwillingness to address his ]. In ] Guns n' Roses returned to the studio with new drummer ] and keyboardist ]. In 1991 they released '']'' and '']'', which debuted as #2 and #1 on the charts.

After their release, Izzy Stradlin quit the band, and was replaced by ]. Guns n' Roses then went on a 28-month-long world tour, which included a ] tribute. During this time, "November Rain" became the most requested video on ], eventually winning a ] for best cinematography.

In 1993, Guns n' Roses released a collection of punk covers entitled '']'' which, because ] had started become ascendant in the rock and roll world, sold poorly. Over the next several years the band disintegrated, and Axl Rose became the sole owner of the Guns n' Roses name.

In 1998 Axl Rose returned to the studio accompanied by:

In 1999, the band released one new song, "Oh My God," which was included on the soundtrack of the poorly-received ] film '']''. Later in ], Finck returned to Nine Inch Nails to record ''The Fragile''; in ], he returned once again to Guns 'n Roses, along with guitarist ].

Reports issued by the band in ] and ] claimed that ''Chinese Democracy'' was to be released later that year by Interscope/], with whom they had apparently patched up their differences (if any). Several release dates set for ], ] and ] had come and gone with no sign of the album. As of ], the album is still unreleased.
