Qawwali

It is nice to see someone so passionate about Qawwali engaging with the Misplaced Pages.

I have made the move to Qawwali as the main article on the subject. What do you think?

By the way, have you heard traditional Qawwalis much? Nusrat Fateh brought a lot of us to the form, but there is also great depth and richness in the wider tradition and its spiritual background...iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 02:31, Apr 19, 2005 (UTC)

Nice to hear back from you. And nice to see a young fan of Qawwali that is in touch with traditional Qawwali.
Here's something you might be interested in: I have just finally got to publishing my thoughts and translations on Sufi Poetry in Urdu. For now, it will be mainly on the following page:
http://urdu-ke-naam.blogspot.com
The blog's not really "mine", but a collaboration with some folks who are mainly in Hyderabad (Deccan) (see Hyderabad, India and Hyderabad state), one of the homes of Urdu. MY own main blog is at http://iFaqeer.blogspot.com iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 20:05, Apr 27, 2005 (UTC)

I like the idea

A reference for Islamic and Muslim cultural concepts often referred to in the zeitgeit/pop culture, you mean :D. That's a long title, but it's needed. It would be a counterpart to: List of Islamic terms in Arabic....I like it. I am sure we can structure it so it ... er ... helps enhance the usefulness of Misplaced Pages as a reference rather than is just a refutation page.

First thing we need to do is check if there isn't already such a page :DiFaqeer (Talk to me!) 04:25, Apr 28, 2005 (UTC)

AOA

Congrats on the cogent arguments on Islam. Well put.

I think we share many of the same concerns about Islam-bashing on WP, which has really reached shameful levels. (Take a look at the claims re: textual criticsm on Qur'an if you're looking for something else to get angry about, which I doubt.)

When you get a chance, can you email me at yusuf.toropov@gmail.com? I have an idea I'd like to discuss with you. Ma-salaam, BYT BrandonYusufToropov 20:40, 12 May 2005 (UTC)

Just sent you that info you asked for via email. BrandonYusufToropov 22:11, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

Hudud

I saw you removed "such as Ali Sina" from the page... just wondering why? I figured it would be a good idea to list someone or something... (curiosity). gren 20:58, 27 May 2005 (UTC)

User:Sam Spade/Welcome

You edited this page a few minutes ago. Please be advised that this is the message Sam uses to welcome new users. He probably doesn't like it when others change it. If you want to talk to Sam go to User talk:Sam Spade. Mgm| 20:32, Jun 5, 2005 (UTC)

Sorry , wrong page ..my mistake .

Origins of the name "Anonymous editor"

Originally written by Farhansher: "Hi , whatsup with this name"

LOL. Do you like it? I chose it a week ago on the "Islam and other religions" section when user zora told said that instead of being an "anonymous editor" I should take a name. So, from then on I became known as the "Anonymous editor".

About me: I usually focus on Islam and Islam-related articles as I converted to Islam recently. Like many others, I hate extreme POVs and Islam-bashing especially by people who know nothing about this great religion.

Thanks for asking.

No, I did not come because of an invitation from a forum. Thanks...--Anonymous editor 22:41, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)

Hey there -- could I ask you to take a look at my recent edits on Terrorism?

We've fallen out of touch, and I owe you correspondence. My apologies.

I fixed the balanced-example problem people claimed to be concerned about at Terrorism, but POV editors are massing the troops. Could I ask you to take a look and add your thoughts to the discussion? BrandonYusufToropov 01:48, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Similar (but much more longwinded) assaults at Jihad...

... which took several weeks of work to get to an NPOV state. Can you please take a look when you get the chance? BrandonYusufToropov 17:43, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Links (response)

In response:

Yes, I underestand completely, but I still believe that we should provide viewers with an appropriate list of general links that educate them about the religion. This is integral to clarify the tenets of the religion. Very few users will actaully use directory for general info about the religion. Critical links are given in the directory and I clearly restate that a religion does not need POV in the first place because it is factuality rather than an issue. The links I listed are factual and I ofcourse did not link them for POV, but for factuality. But, yes, I do understand what you were saying, thanks for informing me. --Anonymous editor 19:10, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)

In response to ur question about me please see my user page. Thanks. --Anonymous editor 20:33, Jun 13, 2005 (UTC)

Forums

HI Farhanser, I noticed that you asked some people from certain forums to come to Misplaced Pages to start editing the Islam pages. We've recently had an outbreak of trouble on these pages. Can you tell me please which forums you posted that message on? I'm trying to work out how best to stop the personal attacks and reverting on these pages, so any information at all would be most helpful. Cheers, SlimVirgin 08:14, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

the Islam flamewars

re , I do not think it is helpful to add such brainless ranting to Talk pages, even with a view to making your opponents look bad. Your aim should be to help calm things down, so that cool-headed factual editing and polite discussion may hopefully be resumed in the near future. thanks, dab () 13:00, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ed Poor has been kind enough to nominate me for an adminship

...which I think will go a long way toward resolving unproductive disputes on pages he and I both edit. Anyone who is interested in voting one way or the other is invited to the discussion here. BrandonYusufToropov 17:08, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ali Sina

You added this: Others say he is just doing it to stay away from entering into debate with some real Islamic scholars , and as a result , risk of losing his following. to the Ali SIna article a short while ago. I removed it because you haven't included a source for this criticism yet. -- Stereotek 18:41, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Talk:Jihad

Farhanser, you have done a magnificent job outlining Jihad on the talk:Jihad page. Very nice. And don't let zeno discourage you, she/he can hate Muslims all she/he wants, but can't even get a point across. Anyways, good work. Talk to you later, Anonymous editor June 30, 2005 06:57 (UTC)

Do you mean the "liberal" thing should be deleted? -Anonymous editor July 1, 2005 13:30 (UTC)
Yes I agree with you on the Jihad thing. Secondly, I looked at the article you said about slavery and it is very good. I have made some minor corrections for now but I will be back later to check for other small problems (been a little busy lately) assuming that noone reverts it ofcourse. Thanks for informing me. Salaam, --Anonymous editor July 1, 2005 20:03 (UTC)

Can you please ...

... take a look at my work here, and perhaps add it to your watchlist? Many thanks, BrandonYusufToropov 13:05, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

Update. User:Carbonite instantly reverted. BrandonYusufToropov 13:20, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

Mysticism

Hmmm. Theoretically, there can be mysticism in the Islamic context outside of Sufism, which is usually based on Sunni tradition. But then I guess some of the Shia-based mystical orders are also called Sufi...thinking as I go here. Maybe redirect? I would prefer "Islamic Mysticism" or "Muslim Mysticism" in that case... iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 20:16, July 15, 2005 (UTC)

user page reversion

Hi Farhansher! You're quite welcome.
