Long Xuyên pronunciation is a capital city of An Giang Province, in the Mekong Delta region of southwestern Vietnam. It is located at approximately 10°22′60″N 105°25′0″E / 10.38333°N 105.41667°E / 10.38333; 105.41667 Coordinates: latitude seconds >= 60
{{#coordinates:}}: invalid latitude, 1950 km south of Hanoi, 189 km from Ho Chi Minh City, and 45 km from the boundary with Cambodia. The population of Long Xuyen city is over 300,000 (2007), with an area of only 130 square km.

Long Xuyen is the second most prosperous town in southwestern Vietnam, just after Can Tho city.

Economy

Long Xuyen is a very developed city in merchandising (mainly in rice-trading) and processing fish industry (such as basa fish) with more than 6 plants and 10,000 workers.

In 2000 (?) the fishers in southern United States sued the Vietnamese farmers for seeling "ca ba sa" as catfish.
