Mao: The Unknown Story is a book written by historians Jung Chang and husband Jon Halliday. It was published in 2005 and challenges many established 'myths' about former Chairman of The China Communist Party (CCP) Mao Zedong (orMao Tse-Tung). In particular, the Autumn uprising and the establishment of the Communist party, that in fact he was not a founding member, both of which have yet to be criticised at the time of writing.
