Image tag

Regarding your suggestion on my talk page about the Bowling alley photo, I don't know how to proceed since my friend who has taken the photo is not a Wikipedian. Jay 11:41, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your tweaks here. It's always interesting to see what happens to an article one wrote large parts of when it makes the front page ;-) - David Gerard 13:52, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Return of the Untagged Image project

You were kind enough to contribute to the Misplaced Pages:Untagged images project; I beg to draw your attention to part 2 of the project - there are about 12,000 more images in need of tagging. Any assistance you could provide would be most welcome. thanks --Tagishsimon (talk)

Image Tagging

Hi, you asked for more information about Image:Afonso Pena.jpg copyright. The image is property of the Goverment of Brazil and some samples can be found on the online National Archive website(http://www.arquivonacional.gov.br). There is many photos on the Archive (including this image) but few of them are on the online archive. Any goverment material belongs to the public domain unless the document is confidential for security reasons.

Update: This is the law regarding any images of the presidential archive. http://www.arquivonacional.gov.br/memoria/crapp_site/legislacao_presidentes.doc In the begining on the "Chapter 1" "Art 3º" says tath "Any private documents of the presidents in the National Archive becomes public domain and is considered of public interest the archives". In terms the Goverment claims the copyright only the original photos. Edu

To myself, don't forget about this image. It is a copy of ca:Imatge:Localització de la Vall d'Aran.png. Someone should post here about it soon. Superm401 | Talk 18:47, May 22, 2005 (UTC)

Image tagging

Hi Superm, Thanks for your message, which image did I forget to put a tag to this time? :-)

I release all my photos to the GFDL, but please tell me the image as I'll either put my Template:Fir0002 if I took the photo with my old Kodak, or my new Template:Fir0002 20D

Thanks --Fir0002 08:10, May 23, 2005 (UTC)

OK done it! Thanks for bringing it up! --Fir0002 12:07, May 23, 2005 (UTC)

Terragen on Featured Picture Candidates

Hi Superm, I've successfully requested GFDL copyright tags to be put onto the images. So now that the copyright issues are gone, please reconsider your vote. --Fir0002 21:43, May 24, 2005 (UTC)

About the ROFLcopter image

I originally saw that image on www.roflcopter.com, and I didn't believe there were any restrictions on its use since I have seen it on many sites before. I did not know of its use at www.rofl.name when I posted the image. I will ask both sites who the copyright holder is, if any. Eszett 06:52, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

ESB.jpg

Yeah I don't mind it getting deleted, I took it myself about 6months ago, but it is now redundant due to a better one being used. Thanks for putting it up for deletion... im so involved with wikinews, I hardly do anything here anymore. CGorman 11:02, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Reference desk photos

Superm,

Was it you who deleted my request for identification off the reference desk? You have no right whatsoever dictating what goes on the reference desk. I'm sorry if not all of us are as perfect as you and know everything off the top of there heads. Why don't you think about the photos a bit before making comments? Is it a cart, a buggy, a wagon, is there any special meaning to the pieces of still in the front of the wagon (bottom LH corner of pic)? It's better to seek konwledge and accurately name the object than have a misnamed image on wiki.

What kind of albatross is it? It's obviously not a normal one as they are white (as everyone knows).

Please leave my request on the reference desk alone in the future. --Fir0002 July 1, 2005 06:34 (UTC)

I have responded on your talk page. Superm401 | Talk July 1, 2005 07:41 (UTC)
Hi Superm,
I guess there is just a hole heap of misunderstandings, because when I looked on the reference desk to see what responses I had recieved and I was kinda shocked to see that they were gone (particularly because all my previous ones had recieved positive information on previous unidentified photos. So I checked the history and when I saw your name with a comment saying that it had to be a joke I immediately jumped to the conclusion that you had removed it. So I'm sorry about the whole incident as well, I don't mean any offence to you, I just acted a little hastily. Anyway that's all sorted now. See you around wiki! --Fir0002 July 2, 2005 09:38 (UTC)

Barney

I took that screenshot before there was a screenshot template, I believe. I'd keep that in mind before labeling things for deletion instead of just putting another tag on it. Mike H (Talking is hot) July 1, 2005 15:38 (UTC)

That's why I ended up making it {{screenshot}}, as you can see. Superm401 | Talk July 1, 2005 22:44 (UTC)

Parilament picture

This picture has teken from www.beograd.org.yu whit premission. Everything from this site everybody can use for Misplaced Pages. I wrote this sentence on that pic. --M. Pokrajac 4 July 2005 12:13 (UTC)

I just know that they give premission to use all content of that site. If you want more specific informations about that, just send e-mail to webmaster of www.beograd.org.yu site. --M. Pokrajac 4 July 2005 18:50 (UTC)

I've added a note to the page (including some commented out text). It has been difficult to work out exactly who owns the copyright: might very well be Public Domain (it was definitely taken in 1924), might be Crown Copyright, might be copyright of whoever owns Barratt's photo library (as they seemed to take most of the Labour Party photographs of the period, although their copyright notice is not on this one). David File:Arms-westminster-lb.jpg | Talk 5 July 2005 22:46 (UTC)

dont sweat it

yeah, don't sweat it about the image--i used to use it, now i don't.

thanks for PD compliment. well, it's obviously satirical but i think the slant is obvious...*shrug*

edit: and, actually, i think it is valid--as long as you designate that these are the serious conditions (which is kind of an oxymoron since they are lack of conditions), then those are the 'rules.' and the 'rules' are 'no rules' in this case. :P Lockeownzj00 6 July 2005 03:52 (UTC)

CSD

Hi there! I am writing a short essay on the present CSD proposal and the reactions to it, because I think it shows some interesting thoughts that preside in the WikiCommunity, and such an essay may be an interesting article for the Signpost, or a useful read for anyone who wishes to propose anything in the future. Anyway I wanted to ask you about your comment, "Most importantly, this makes a guideline effective policy.". Could you please explain a bit what you mean? We have in the past created policy out of some other guidelines, e.g. the 3RR policy which used to be a guideline. Or did you mean that a policy page should not refer to a guideline page for its decisions? I can certainly understand (and sometimes agree with) people opposing an idea because of improper procedure, but if that is the case I would like to write that into the essay so that better procedures will be used in the future. Thanks for your time! Radiant_>|< 12:59, July 17, 2005 (UTC)

  • Thanks for your answer. I understand your point, but it seems somewhat paradoxical to me, because your reasoning makes it harder to base a policy on a guideline (which is something that most people already agree is a good idea), than to create a policy from scratch (e.g. not based on a guideline). As a side point, people from all parts of Misplaced Pages have been encouraged to participate in the debate - see whatlinkshere. Anyway, Misplaced Pages:How_to_create_policy probably needs some revision, I'll see what I can do about that. Yours, Radiant_>|< 11:40, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

Editor's Barnstar

In recognition of your efforts in editing and removing unverified speculation from the Harry Potter pages, I hereby award you the Editor's Barnstar --Deathphoenix 18:41, 22 July 2005 (UTC) (KC)

Just wanted to thank you for all the effort you put into removing original research and trimming down some of the microdetails in the Harry Potter articles. You are free to place this on your user page, or to delete this, as you desire. Thanks and congratulations! --Deathphoenix 18:41, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

You're welcome. Considering how much "new content" the Harry Potter pages have been getting, editing is just as important. :-) --Deathphoenix 02:19, 23 July 2005 (UTC)
