Origin of Dark Blue Shirts

Re your edit to West Ham United. Am reverting this back to Oxford based on information in the article on Arnold Hills and with the Colours section of the West Ham article. Apart from these other sources, it would be strange if a Cambridge graduate picked dark blue for West Ham's original colours as Cambridge are the "light blues" while it is their rivals Oxford who are the "dark blues". —Preceding unsigned comment added by DCHammer (talk • contribs) 13:12, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Lucas Neill number

Well, we can see from Saturday that he is 34! Was reported as training at West Ham during the week wearing 35 and there are newspaper pictures showing this this. Seems by Saturday he had become 34.--

Premier League 2007-08

Is there any reason why you think that West Ham's place in the Premiership isn't subject to court action? PeeJay 06:46, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Many. Sheffield Utd have asked the Premier League to appoint a commission to review the original commission's decision to fine West Ham rather than deduct them points. This is between Sheff U and the Premier League and will only look at the method used to arrive at the penalty and not the penalty itself. West Ham are NOT involved in this new commision. Sheff U have sought many other alternatives, a league of 21 teams next season and compensation. It is a commission of the Premier League and not a court. --Egghead06 07:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Marek Stech

Marek Štěch (b. 28 January, 1990 in Prague) is a Czech Republic international footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. He currently plays for West Ham United in the English Premier League. He is currently reserve team goalkeeper but has not made any first-team appearances.

Background

Marek was at Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic between the ages of 15 and 16. On transfer deadline day in August 2006 he moved to West Ham. He wears the number #35 shirt for the club. He has been playing regularly for the West Ham Academy team, as well as the reserves when called upon . Academy coach Tony Carr has said that "Stech is making great strides" and "he is a great prospect".

James Collison

Not listed on official website giving squad numbers and profiles for all registed players. Never even heard of him. Removed from current squad. Koos 15:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

The programme is produced by a publishing firm, and ususaly contains many errors. We need a verifiable source for the player and his number. He would not be assigned a squad number unless he is established in the first team, or make it on to the bench. As neither of these has happened, and West Han do not list him on their site, he should not be added to the current squad. Koos 15:35, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I have done a search on Google, and cannot find ANY reference to this player. I suspect it is the son of the editor of the programme, who stuck it on for a laugh. Koos 15:39, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

He exists. There is no other way about it. Is he in the first team? I don't know, but he exists despite whatever laudable attempt by Koos to disprove him as some figment of the programme editors mind.--Koncorde 22:24, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Jordan Spence

Jordan Spence is an English football player, and captain of the England Under-17s (U17) and Under-18s (U18) youth teams. He has also represented England at under 19 level.

Biography

Jordan attended Chigwell School from the age of 7 until he left at the end of the 2006 summer term aged 16 to pursue a career in football.

Club career

In April 2006 he signed a contract as a full time youth team academy player with West Ham United F.C. for Season 2006-07. He currently plays for the West Ham U18s, and has already played for the West Ham Reserve Team. In July 2007, he became a full time professional player.

International career

Spence captained the England U16s to the Victory Shield in November 2005,, then led England U17 to the Final of the Nordic Tournament, playing in the Faroe Islands in August 2006 and scoring in his second match. England finished at the top of their 4-team group, but lost the Final to Denmark in Tórshavn.

In September 2006 he played for England against Portugal in the FA Friendly International Tournament.

In 2007, he was named in U17s coach John Peacock's squad for the Elite qualifying round of the Under-17 European Championships against Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan.

In 2007, Jordan captained England in the U17 World Youth Championships. his was the first time the country had reached the World Finals, at this age group. It was at this very tournament, where Jordan himself made history. Against Brazil in injury time he scored a late winner, which put England through to the last 16, this was the first time England had beaten Brazil at a FIFA tournament. On 20 November 2007 Spence captained the England U18 team in a 2-0 victory over Ghana. He made his first appearance for the England U19 team in their 3-1 victory over Belgium on 17 October 2007 The England U18 team finished the 2007-08 season unbeaten, under Spence's captaincy, with a 2-0 win over Austria on 16 April 2008.

Elvis

Regarding "the" and "them": I would ask you to read the sentence more carefully. Presley didn't make "them movies" - that's clearly bad grammar. Wallis made the quality movies and the commercial Elvis Presley films. It would be wrong to write Wallis made them quality movies and them commercial Elvis Presley films. I have read it again and I have to say I disagree. The sentence would read 'To Presley's anger and dismay, Wallis admitted to the press that the financing of such quality productions was only possible by making them commercially successful Presley vehicles' meaning financing was possible by making them (ie the films) commercially successful Presley vehicles.--Egghead06 18:44, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

No. The quality films Wallis made were NOT the Elvis films. Wallis made the commercially successful films to finance the non-commercial, but expensive to make, films starring Peter O'Toole, etc. Another way of rearranging the sentence would be: 'Making the commercially successful Elvis films allowed Wallis to finance other films.' I'm trying hard to understand all this. My wording was meant to clarify what the text means for your benefit - not for you to use it to rewrite the article. You've now got rid of the important fact that Wallis revealed his agenda publicly to the press without informing Presley first; that's what pissed him off with Wallis and Parker. I'm going to rewrite this so that it has the meaning and content originally used. Please read this afresh to see how it makes sense. If you should disagree, please post your comments here, on my talk page or the article's talk page first. I admit I still find it hard to understand your original dispute and I understand you are concerned about the matter - but other very capable editors and wiki administrators have been working on this article for months, picking up on many points small and large. Hi, Egghead. Of course it is anyone's right to add stuff. That doesn't mean it has the right to stay there when others disagree, and when there is a history of numerous problems with the editor concerned. If you took a look at the kind of sexual content the same editor has tried to include {eg. 'Elvis had sex with his mother'), you too might agree that the oral sex edit was inappropriate, just more of the same, and simply bloated the article (editors have been warned to reduce it). This article isn't owned by anyone; I am personally always on the lookout for any others' input to improve this article, and if they end up spending more time on it than me, that'll be quite a relief!! Hellow Egghead, Just dropping a line to say that I did appreciate what you had to say on your last edit on the Elvis Talk Page,especiallly about the media,hasn't that changed over the last 50 odd years or so. It got me thinking that I may run with something on the talk page about that very thing,maybe using other icons, to maybe put things into a little of perspective there. Being that you are looking from the outside in,I would very much like your opinion,if you would like, on who you would choose as a comparison.
