Ruben Filipe Marques Amorim is a promising Portuguese Footballer who plays defensive midfielder for SL Benfica in Portugal. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal on January 27 1985.
Amorim is considered one of the most important future prospects of Portuguese football due to his constant performances for club. Playing with the U-21s, he also qualified for the U-21 tournament held in Holland in July 2007.
His style is similar to Portuguese footballer Tiago Mendes with both playing the same position, opperating in central midfield, both defensive and offensive. With this in mind, several clubs have been interested in his services but he insists on not leaving, with Belenenses rejecting bids from SL Benfica, SC Braga, FC Porto, Schalke 04, Tottenham Hotspur and Toulouse FC, with the player staying for at least another year with the club participating in the UEFA Cup.
In late April, Amorim signed a 4 year deal with SL Benfica on a free agent deal.
