Gabbar Singh is a charachter from the famous hindi movie Sholay played by Amjad Khan. The name is famous among many teenagers in india and is usually a source of comedy. Gabbar Singh is sometimes also credited as the biggest dacoit.

About the Charachter
In the movie, Gabbar Singh is known as the biggest dacoit in the village of Ramgarh. He is known as the nightmare of the people. He asks for tax every month from the villagers, and forces them to do so, or he kills them.However,one villager, Thakur Baldev Singh, played by Sanjeev Kumar wants revenge with Gabbar because Gabbar had killed Thakur's family and had cut his hands. He hires two strong crime-breakers, Veeru, played by Dharmendra, and Jaidev, played by Amitabh Bachan. The two heroes force the soldiers of Gabbar Singh to retreat withought the tax. Gabbar Singh is now very angry, and decides to avenge. He attacks on the day of Holi, but Veeru and Jaidev fight back and force him to retreat. Gabbar Singh starts killing the villagers one by one, until Veeru and Jaidev surrender. They make a plan, and ultimately Gabbar Singh gets defeated, and imprisoned. At the climax of the movie, Thakur cut's Gabbar's hands with his metal pointed shoes.
