Yazid bin Muawiyah (born c. 645, died 683) was the second Umayyad Caliph, and suceeded his father Muawiyah.

He most notoriously remembered for the Battle of Kerbela where the grandson of Muhammad, Husayn bin Ali was killed.

His ruthlessness in pursuing Husayn has made him a despised person in the history of Islam.
