Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati is a spiritual teacher born to Jewish parents in Brooklyn, U.S.A. Her outlook has been influenced by Jesus Christ and the Hindu saint Nityananda. She has also been informed by the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, Ramana Maharshi and Shirdi Sai Baba. Her own teachings are therefore undogmatic; principle among them is an emphasis on "the importance of service in spiritual life".

Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati founded the Kashi Ashram, "an international interfaith community based on kindness, compassion and service", in Florida in 1976.
