WRIC 8 is the ABC affiliate for the Richmond market and owned by Young Broadcasting. They are licensed to Petersburg, Virginia.

Channel 8 began operation in 1955 as WXEX. They had ABC affiliation ever since. They were owned by local owners known as Petersburg Television.

In 1968 the station was sold to Nationwide Television. Call letters were changed in 1986 to WRIC. In 1993 the station was sold to Young Broadcasting.
