There's a major error here that should be corrected. Baer was never president of the Russian Geographical Society. He was, for a time, chairman of its Ethnographic Division (I believe the dates were 1845-1848 and then 1858 to 1860). The nominal leader of the Geographic Society was the Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich, while the practical responsibilities were carried out by the Vice-President Fedor Litke. Lamarckism

Er, yeah. Is this right in saying that he followed, Lamarckism, which is demonstrably nonsense, and isn't an alternative paradigm at all. Dunc|☺ 15:23, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
