Juan Urango (born October 4, 1980 in Jaraquiel, a suburb of Montería, Colombia), is a professional boxer in the junior welterweight (140 lb) division. His record is 20-1-1 (16 KOs). He is a former IBF world light welterweight champion. On June 30 2006, he defeated Australian boxer Naoufel Ben Rabah by a controversial points win. Urango lost the title in his first defence to English boxer Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas on January 20 2007 via a 12 round unanimous decision. He is a very hard puncher in his division.

On April 23, 2008 Urango scored spectacular 4th round KO of Carlos Wilfredo Vilches in a IBF title eliminator. The victory sets him up with an opportunity to regain the IBF title in the near future. Paulie Malinaggi currently holds the title.

He is a Christian and belongs to the fastest growing church, Segadores De Vida, run by Pastor Ruddy and Maria Gracia.
