Subtropical storm Laura is the 1st Subtropical cyclone of the Atlantic Hurricane season. It is the 12th named cyclone in the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season.

Storm History

In the last week of September, a very large non-tropical system over the north-central Atlantic slowly moved westward away from the Azores. As it entered warmer waters, it slowly gained tropical characteristics and was declared Subtropical Storm Laura early on September 29.

Impact

Currently, seeing as Laura has not made land or is near land, therefore no damage or effects have been made. However Laura could make landfall over the United Kingdom in Europe and Ireland - also in Europe later in life as a predicted extra-tropical low.
