Hey, vandalism boy, you get on the counter-vandalism unit, someone gives you a title, and you think you can declare whatever you want to be vandalism? Nice. You deleted information with a half a dozen URL's to support it. If you can point out factual errors in the content, by all means, it shoudl be fixed, but simply deleting sourced information would qualify you as a vandal, a POV pusher, or at the very least, someone who doesn't know policy. ] 17:49, 8 October 2005 (UTC) |

Hi! welcome to Misplaced Pages!
Hope you enjoy contributing to Misplaced Pages. Be bold in editing pages. Here are some links that you might find useful:
- Try the Tutorial. If you have less time, try Misplaced Pages:How to edit a page.
- To sign your posts (on talk pages, Votes for deletion page etc.) use ~~~~ (four tildes). This will insert your name and timestamp. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes).
- You can experiment in the test area.
- You can get help at the Help Desk
- Some other pages that will help you know more about Misplaced Pages: Manual of Style and Misplaced Pages:Five pillars, Misplaced Pages:Neutral point of view, Misplaced Pages:Civility, Misplaced Pages:What Misplaced Pages is not, Misplaced Pages:How to write a great article
I hope you stick around and keep contributing to Misplaced Pages. Drop us a note at Misplaced Pages:New user log.
Hi Adam, see the message JIP left on my talk page, he replied to your question. Also a couple of nice links you might want to check:
- Misplaced Pages:Vandalism --> about warning the vandals and using templates to do so
- Misplaced Pages:Administrator intervention against vandalism --> report vandals there, admins watch that page and will block the user if they agree with you.
- Misplaced Pages:How to archive a talk page

Mass signing up of accounts from the same people
You wrote (on my talk page): (your an admin and can fix this right....)
- (snip long msg that I found unclear)
- There was more from other people but I think I have used enough of your talk page up by this
Thanks for the warning, but I need some more information from you. I am indeed an admin, but I am not the most experienced admin around, (I have been one for less than a week) so please bear with me. User:Linuxbeak does indeed seem to be Alex Schenck, and on a quick glace at his user and talk page, he seems to be a respected and experienmced editor here. he also seems to be active on other web-based fora, including "America's Army".
I could not find any of the other names you mention in the recent user creation log, which is at Special:User creation log. I am not clear which of the other words and phrases in your msg you are saying have been used as wikipedia user names. Some of htem look like attmpts to insult User:Linuxbeak, or to troll by making it appear that this user is writing offfensive phrases.
Please tell me, as clearly and simply as you can:
- what are the user names that you think areall the same person;
- what causes you to think this
A simple list of usernames, preferably clearly linked in the form
would be most helpful. Please accompany this with your reason and how you found out that there is or may be a problem. Thank you. DES 16:36, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
Your question
Adam, I will answer your question on my talk page, to keep the conversation together. --JoanneB 18:45, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
Stress
How do I officaly sign up? I am not an admin but I remove vandalism
(☺Adam1213☺|talk]) 03:04, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
- All you need to do is join #en.wikipedia.vandalism additionaly you can list your username on User:Cool Cat/Counter Vandalism Unit --Cool Cat 16:15, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
- Please use the {test}} templates in order - don't give a "last warning" for a first offence. On an unrelated note, please use edit summaries almost all the time, and try to give a good representation of what you are changing; it helps those who patrol for new changes. -DDerby-(talk) 23:00, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
Test templates
Hi, please use the sandbox to do testing. The signature cannot be automatically added, it will either save your sig, or just ~~~~. Thanks. ∞Who?¿? 04:05, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
It might work template --:Adam1213|☺Adam1213☺]]|talk 04:06, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
- First off,I already tested your edits, it doesnt work. Second, please use your sandbox, or the main one to do your testing. This way you will know if it will work or not. ∞Who?¿? 04:09, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
- That one seemed to work. I tried the one version you did on Test3 and it didn't. I think you may want to put a link on the talk pages of the test templates and explain what you are wanting to do first. This way you will not get reverted. ∞Who?¿? 04:22, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
Hi Adam. Please discuss changes to these templates on the templates' talk pages before making any changes. Changes shouldn't be made without discussing any consequences or drawbacks. Thanks! Carbonite | Talk 04:29, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
Adam, while I'm very impressed by your drive to make things better, I'm afraid that "auto-signatures" on the test templates aren't very feasible. The main problem is that it requires a change in the way users add the templates. Editors are used to signing their comments with ~~~~; making the templates non-standard would be quite confusing. Also, the test templates are already transcluded on thousands of pages and a change such as auto-signature would break them. While this idea may not work out, you absolutely have the right attitude and I wish you the best of luck on Misplaced Pages. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy editing!
