Joseph Gordon-Levitt (born February 17, 1981 in Los Angeles, California, to parents Dennis and Jane) is a Jewish-American actor best known for his role as Tommy Solomon on 3rd Rock from the Sun (1996-2001). He is the grandson of director Michael Gordon(Pillow Talk, Cyrano de Bergerac). He also appeared in the films Angels in the Outfield and 10 Things I Hate About You.

In 2004 he appeared in the critically acclaimed limited-release film Mysterious Skin by director Gregg Araki which was well received at several major film festivals.
