Larry Zhixing Hu, born in Beijing, China, on June 6, 1985, and raised in Mobile, ALabama, USA, was awarded minor planet name 18739 Larryhu during the 2003 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Cleveland, OH for a computer science team project named "A Liquid-based Thermoelectric Application for Processor Architecture Scalability".

He currently lives in Seattle, WA, and is a former member of the University of Washington NROTC. Mina Weimin Wu, of Free University of Berlin, his long-time girlfriend, and Larry currently travel between Seattle and Berlin, Germany to make regular visits.
