Mayfair Middle/High School, located in the city of Lakewood, California, serves over 3,543 students in grades seven through twelve on a traditional school calendar. All of Mayfair students' residency is among the cities of Lakewood, Bellflower, and Cerritos. The campus has over 130 classrooms, with over 16 special education rooms. The school provides a safe learning environment, in which students gain the knowledge for their future endeavors.
As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 3,616 students and 139.8 classroom teachers (on a FTE basis, for a student-teacher ratio of 25.9.
Mayfair was recognized as a California Distinguished School, the highest award a California high school can obtain. In 2001, Mayfair received the Golden Bell award from the California School Board Association for their Academy of Animation and Digital Art Program.
The school mascot is the "Mayfair Monsoon" — illustrated as a tornado. The school's colors are white, blue, and grey. They have many sports that have won suburban league titles and championships. The schools newspaper is titled "The Windjammer," which is also located online. There are many clubs available at Mayfair for the students to get involved in and delve into. Sports that continue to shine and win titles are Boys Basketball, and Boys Football, Girls Soccer, Boys Volleyball, Boys Wrestling, Boys and Girls Tennis, Golf, Swimming, Boys and Girls Track & Field and more.
