Obstruction?

Hinckley claimed he did not know who Mark_Hofmann was to police. Police investigated phone records and discovered Hinckley knew Mark_Hofmann intimately. Hinckley in this aspect obstructed justice. This would not be note-worthy had Hinckley not become Prophet of the Mormons. In order to maintain objectivity some sort of reference or link needs to be added to the article. I have a number of books, notes and papers on the investigation. I'll see what I can dig up. I'm familiar with two officers who claimed this after the investigation, but not in official reports. I'll dig around and look to see what I can find. -Visorstuff 19:12, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
Might try http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0941214877/qid=1119072773/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_ur_2/104-7718044-6111947?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 One reader review "What is most extraordinary is that, despite two cold blooded murders, no one, except the police, seemed to want this case to go to trial!" And the book The Mormon Murders http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0312934106/qid=1130372344/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-7718044-6111947?v=glance&s=books One reader review "Gordon B. Hinckley, then not yet the head of the Mormon Church, simply told the lead detective he was not interested in testifying about his involvement in purchasing documents from Mark Hofmann, and he eventually got away with it!" Maybe just including a reference to Hinckely being a key figure in the Mark Hoffman scandal while he was a church bureaucrat would be sufficient. More detail about Hinckley’s evolvement could then be given on the Mark Hoffman page. BTW, most Mormons I know would claim that grievous errors earlier in life do not preclude one from being a prophet. They would point to Peter (denying Christ) and Paul (persecuting Christians).--IndependentThinker 17:17, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
