Villanders (Template:Lang-it; Template:Lang-de) is a village and comune in the province of Bolzano-Bozen, in the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of northern Italy.
According to the 2001 census, 98.29% of the population speak German, 1.37% Italian and 0.34% Ladin as first language.
Geography
Villanders lies on the Villanderer Berg (Mountain of Villanders), at the top of which lies the Totensee (Sea of death). The village is bordered by Barbian, Klausen, Lajen, Ritten and Sarntal.
Sights
Recently Villanders has become more attractive for tourists. The Gasser Hütte, Meir im Plun and the Rinderplatz (cow square) are farmed mountain pastures where tourists can eat and drink. The Totensee and the Totenkirchlein (church of death) are also tourist attractions.
