Joke Page
Thank you for reverting that page to blank. It was created by some people at school for a 'laugh'.

He's been blocked for 24 hours. By the way, have you ever considered applying for adminship? You've certainly been around long enough, and have plenty of edits. I'd be happy to nominate you, if you like. Ral315 02:35, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- It's done. Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/RoyBoy. And good luck :) Ral315 02:50, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Abortion
Hey, I noted that in various abortion articles, Joel Brind is referred to just as "Dr. Brind". I changed it in one article but noted it in others, and you seem to be careful, so I'm wondering why only the first-name reference? I could understand doing the "Dr X" formulation with respect to just authors of studies, but since his general contribution seems to be greater than that (e.g., he's not just a random researcher but a pretty activie participant in the debate) I think he deserves his full name. Thanks. Geoff.green 02:51, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

RFA
Congratulations! Consesus being reached you will now be given the admin's tools. However there is a bug in the system and hence we cannot set access rights as of now. Special:makesysop is used to set admin rights and currently an error: "page not recognized by Misplaced Pages" is being displayed. If this is rectified, you will see "you do not have permission to access...". Bureaucrats will be checking this page periodically, if you notice it resolved before a bureaucrat does, please feel to contact any one of them (special:listusers). Thank you for your patience. User:Nichalp/sg 05:57, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
- Hi dear, I am feeling gr8 to find you to be in the list of successful nominee for adminship. I wish you fine time and I am sure that you shall exercise your new authority with utmost trust and care. Fine. Congratulations. --MissingLinks 06:30, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
Popups tool
Congratulations on being made an admin! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Misplaced Pages:Tools/Navigation popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is to paste the following into User:RoyBoy/monobook.js:
// ] - please include this line document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="' + 'http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=User:Lupin/popups.js' + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>'); popupShortcutKeys=true; // optional: enable keyboard shortcuts popupAdminLinks=true; // optional: enable admin links
There are more options which you can fiddle with listed at Misplaced Pages:Tools/Navigation popups. Give it a try and let me know if you find any glitches or have suggestions for improvements! Lupin|talk|popups 21:22, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
Mentioned you in a discussion, though you'd be interested
I used you in as an example in a village-pump discussion about tagging users here. I thought you might be interested, so I decided to send you the link. (: ~ Jared ~ 22:37, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
==Who's RfA== Thank you for supporting my masters RfA. He appreciates your support and comments and looks forward to better serving Misplaced Pages the best he can. Of course I will be doing all of the real work. He would have responded to you directly, but he is currently out of town, and wanted to thank you asap. Thanks again. --Who's mop?¿? 21:00, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
Jaxl's RfA
Hi RoyBoy, thanks for supporting me on my RfA, and congrats on becoming an admin yourself! (I hope that bug is fixed soon...) Robert 16:02, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
- Eeek...I didn't realize how bad opentask looked in 800x600. Thanks for letting me know about it. Robert 02:22, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

No problem...have fun with the tools, and don't smite too many vandals at once :) Ral315 WS 23:05, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
RoyBoy RfA
Left the best till last... really wanted to say thanks to you most of all. With your sysop support, comments and personal experience I feel trully deserving and up to the task of admin. Much appreciated... and it made me forget entirely about the oppose votes. :"D– RoyBoy 23:15, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
- I wasn't an admin when first we met--far from it. When I interacted with you, I gained a lot of confidence and felt that my contributions were appreciated. I also liked the way you addressed the issues. I am surprised that I made it to admin before you did. --Tony Sidaway 23:33, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
Your RFA
Wanted to thank you for your consideration and comments; hopefully I'll do better than you expect(ed). - RoyBoy 23:04, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
- Wow! Well, isn't this something?
- That was quite professional of you to leave a message. I'll certainly remember your RFA more for that gesture rather than anything else. :-)
- Now that you've got those nice and shiny admin buttons, have fun, and make good use of them. If you get a chance, fiddle with your monobook settings to improve your admin capabilities and Wiki experience - it's a very worthwhile investment - one that I haven't had a chance to do for myself yet. Finally, if you ever need an extra hand, feel free to let me know and I'll help you out as best I can.
- As an aside: You must be familiar with the Spencer Gorge/Webster's Falls Conservation Area, aren't you? --HappyCamper 00:02, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
- Not much really...Just thought it would be nice to take picture of that place for Misplaced Pages, especially since you can climb around the rocks there and go "behind" the falls. --HappyCamper 00:21, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
- Nope, not that I'm aware of. See, take a look - Webster's falls, Spencer gorge! --HappyCamper 00:57, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
You're a sysop!
Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on Votes for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Misplaced Pages up to date.
Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»= 07:37, 2 October 2005 (UTC)- Well, as you know sysop "status" promotions were suspended due to a bug and was rectified earlier today. Promotions are done using the special:makesysop function. Well, I did both: promoted you and informed you pretty much at the same time. User:Nichalp/sg 07:43, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
Congrats on RfA + a Few comments on WikiLove
Congrats on your RfA -You earned it by being a good neighbor and cleaning up our messes on occasion, for example in keeping an eye on the Schiavo page where I regularly edit.
In any case, I was just browsing around, and I saw on your user page where you say:
"Here are some of the users I've met so far that have shared some WikiLove: ... Alterego - Became my arch-nemesis when he eloquently argued to keep Jesus on the List_of_self-proclaimed_deities to keep everyone happy... even if Jesus may not have considered himself a deity."
While I do not know the reasoning or arguments or logic AlterEgo used (in the event that i accidentally copy it), I would like to point out at least this one set of three verses of the Bible in which Jesus apparently does claim to be deity:
- Philippians 2:5-7 (King James Version)
- King James Version (KJV)
- Public Domain
- 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
- 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
- 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Since you're into theology: This is my explanation of why Jesus is Savior (Creator, Fixer, Role model, example, legal heavenly advocate, etc) -- a "movie Review" of the Mel Gibson film - a thorough but concise theology apologetics:
http://geocities.com/gordon_watts32313/Passion.html mirror: http://hometown.aol.com/gww1210/myhomepage/Passion.html
I hope this is useful, and to the extent that God loves every person, I hope to have shared WikiLove as well.--GordonWatts 09:00, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the cleanup of my (indeed rather sparse) user page; and congrats on your promotion to Adminhood! --MJ 22:46, 2 October 2005 (UTC).
Thanks (for a different reason)
I am not thanking you for anything so large as a user page; but rather for your vote on my RfA! Thank you; I've had the position of Administrator as a goal for a long time, and you helped me to it. --Maru (talk) 00:04, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
Re: Rc patrol
I noticed you created the above page (Rc patrol) to redirect to Misplaced Pages:RC patrol. I have listed this redirect on redirects for deletion because we do not generally make cross-namespace redirects, especially not from the article space to project space. Rob Church 16:52, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

Reverting large articles in the normal way does not work.
because the bottom of the article got cut off (there is some size limitation). i've been here on WP for better than a year and know how to revert, it's just when i did (exact as you have described) the article got messed up. r b-j 22:36, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
James DeBello
Why not, given I originated the AfD? I dunno, maybe "abuse of administrator power"?
- Articles for Deletion (AfD) is where Wikipedians decide whether problematic articles should be deleted or kept. Items sent here usually wait five days or so; then the deletion process can proceed based on Misplaced Pages community consensus.
Since your name isn't "Misplaced Pages community", it means you don't get to unilaterally decide AND DELETE valid nominations. At best, you speedy keep, so the process is transparent.
Is process difficult, or is that only for the little people? --Calton | Talk 05:38, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
Biting of new admin noted...
- You took the job voluntarily, Buckwheat.
...and of course that is predicated upon it being valid; which I no longer thought it was.
- Then vote Keep, Sunny Jim, don't sweep it under the rug. Of course, what you really ought to do is undelete the original. --Calton | Talk 05:55, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
I volunteered for admin, you volunteered the "little people." Buckwheat? Nice touch.
- Sunshine, you came to me, I didn't seek you out: I merely relisted the AfD you deleted out of process and I did so without further comment. What were you looking for from me, a cookie? --Calton | Talk 06:44, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
Isn't it obvious? To get you to respond. You should have come to me and I would have undeleted it. And the point of that would be? Much simpler to relist it.
The recreation of the AfD made undeletion impossible... Nothing stopped you from doing so after I renominated it, nothing is stopping you now. It's pointless now, mind you, but perfectly within your power.
..and yes I do want a cookie, my preference is macadamia white chocolate chunk. I like to eat them while pondering ageism and how people think they can discern my age, while at the same time enjoying your irreverance.
I have no idea what this means. Is an English translation available?
Okay, I lied: it appears to mean that you thought the cookie reference was some sort of age referent, God knows why, but if it'll make you happy, let's try again:
What were you looking for from me:
- A) a cookie?
- B) a medal?
- C) a gold star?
- D) a pat on the back?
Pick a cliché you can live with. --Calton | Talk 05:12, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
And I thought it simpler to delete it, my bad. At least we have consensus. No we don't. But you're a smart cookie; you'll figure it out.
And you'd better take this back: someone might think it belonged to me. --Calton | Talk 07:06, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
Speedballs
Hi. Just to let you know I blanked the article and changed it to a redirect to Speedball (drug). I keep getting caught the same way (usually with speedy delete). Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather 05:50, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
- Ah. "caught the same way" - I tag something as speedy delete and then realise that it should have been a redirect. I've done it enough times that I have become a bit wary except in the obvious cases. As to the deleting yourself, well I thought admins could delete anytime they wanted? Don't know about the rest. Speaking of which I sd|copyvio these two a while back and they are still there. Black Dragon Fighting Society & William V. Aguiar Jr.. Cheers.
- Thanks Southerner they were begining to annoy me. CambridgeBayWeather 06:20, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm
Hmmmm...I don't know! You shouldn't have protect unless you're an admin, and if you are, I don't think you can get rid of it. My monobook.js is pretty much spliced together, I'd suggest asking Sasquatch, he's the java guru. -- Essjay · Talk 21:16, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if you can totally remove them but you can shorten them, e.g. reduce "edit this page" to just "edit" or what i do is provide acronyms, eg, history -> h and delete -> del and stuff like that. e.g:
if(document.getElementById('ca-edit')) document.getElementById('ca-edit').firstChild.innerHTML = 'Edit';
- would make "edit this page" show as just "edit". that help much? Sasquatcht|c 23:11, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
- Hmm... well, you can try User:Func. Haven't seen him around lately. I'm only good at modifying code, not really a creator of code... but I just tried embedding some code into func's monobook.js über script. Anyways, theoritically, .css and .js control completely different things so I doubt they will collide. js is for scripts while css is for appearance more than anything. Blade Runner articles
Roy, you mentioned on the BR template talk page that you created a number of BR-related articles in the process of getting the BR article featured. Can you give me the names of all of those articles by any chance, as I am currently working on improving the template for all BR-related articles, and I thought I would go through and put the most important ones on the template. Thanks. The Wookieepedian 08:33, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
Question about an image of yours
You uploaded a Blade Runner screenshot to the article about Vangelis. I'm curious as to where it's from and if you altered it in any way before posting it. The image quality looks much better than what I'm getting from either my Director's Cut DVD or Criterion Laserdisc of the film.

Admin nom.
Thanks, I really appreciate it, but I was rejected for RfA only a month ago. They apparently thought that I spent too much time in the article space and not enough in the talk and project space. I was doing a lot of reversion even before that, but since then I have tried to participate in RfA, AfD and other project related stuff. I was thinking of not re-applying until December at the earliest. It's funny, after participating in RfA for a while now, how standards change a lot based on who is participating at any given time. I am also going to re-think my answers, some felt that I wasn't verbiose enough with my answers. Again thanks a lot for the offer, but could I contact you in a couple of months, and if you still feel so inclined, nom me then?
Hey by the way, my photo of the Capitol in Williamsburg, Virginia is on the main page today (Did you know...). --Rogerd 04:34, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
