Shilpa Shetty (born 8 June 1975) is an Indian actress.

Biography

She was born in Tamil Nadu, India,and is the sister of Shamita Shetty. She currently lives in Mumbai. She attended St Anthony's Girl's convent in Chembur and then went to Podar College. She was the captain of the baseball team. She also has a black belt in karate.

Shilpa made her debut in the murder mystery, Baazigar with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The film was a huge hit. Audiences were shocked when her character was unexpectedly killed by Khan half way through the film. Her next big hit was Main Khiladi Tu Anari. The song "Churake Dil Mera..." established her in the industry and made her a star. This was followed by many average films and roles. Her recent hit was the film Dus, but she had a critically acclaimed hit in 2004 with Phir Milenge. Her wonderful performance as an AIDS victim silenced her critics and established her credability as an actress.

She starred with her sister in the film, Fareb

She has been nominated three times for "Best Actress" at the Filmfare awards. She has also appeared in the PeTA India campaign ads.

Personal Life

She briefly dated her co-star Akshay Kumar, but they broke up for unknown reasons.
