- Adjust description of position to reflect world-view title of modern Cuban head of state..."revolutionary" is not a descriptive title of a governmental head. Considering that he is later listed as president, such a description should replace revolutionary as the first-in-line description. However, I see no reference in this article to any form of democratically-elected office held by the subject. If reference can be made to the office of "president" in a governmental sense without such electoral justification, so be it.
- Expand lead section - should be 3/4 paragraphs per guidelines. Given the length of the article, four paragraphs would be preferred.
- Improve the Embargo section
- Get a peer review
- Remove material well represented elsewhere - ie. much of the Foreign relations material. (see Foreign relations of Cuba)
- Add a survey of what "rank" Castro was during famous military actions -- has he always been comandante? what were the insignia on his lapels or epaulets, when he wore such things?
- "External links" section must be cleaned up and better categorized
- Shorten abstract. Move relevant material to body of article. (intro shouldn't be so long; especially as to obscure index)
- Search for a greater variety of sources. For example, the sections wealth and US Embargo are clearly written to portray the Americans as the "good" guys, and Cubans as the "bad" guys.
- Remove POV and un-cyclopedic sources.
- Adjust wording for removal of POV.
- Add a section about the suppression of freedom of speech, all radio, tv stations, and newspaper that were shut down
- Add a date for Castro's marriage to Mirta Díaz Balart.
