Jody Wagner Article
I noticed your comments at Talk:Jody Wagner, and I was wondering if you are proposing that the article title should be changed from Jody Wagner to Jody M. Wagner. Please feel free to contact me on my Talk page regarding this matter. --TommyBoy (talk) 22:57, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for replying to my message so quickly. I have created the previously non-existent Jody M. Wagner page as a redirect to the Jody Wagner article, because all sources listing her middle initiail that I have seen in creating and expanding the article state that it is "M" and not "W" as you quote one source as reporting. I further confirmed this by checking which pages link to Jody M. Wagner, finding at least one which should link to the Jody Wagner article. My other reason for creating the redirect page was to avoid the possibility of another user creating a duplicate article on Jody Wagner. --TommyBoy (talk) 02:12, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
helio delete
rklear i appreciated your feedback on the helio deletion. it was well thought out. shell was referencing my suggestion but grossly mischaracterized my reasoning which was rooted in Wikepedia Policy. Misplaced Pages policy states: "Information on products and services should generally be included in the article on the company itself, unless the company article is so large that this would make the article unwieldy. In that case, the discussion of the company's products and services should be broken out from the company article in summary style."
since this information is all already included in the main company article my contention is that it should be removed based on 1. policy dictates it should be in the main article, 2 it currently is in the main article therefore it is redundant and out of compliance.76.213.229.6 (talk) 04:49, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Glenn Nye
That was an old AfD, prior to the Primary election and the discussion of Notability as it pertains to politicians. (I re-added the photo, then saw your comment on your previous add and reversion.) Flatterworld (talk) 15:52, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- I don't remember offhand - others have noted the change in more recent discussions on notability. We'll all have more time to revisit this after November 4th, I really just wanted to let you know the photo was re-added. Flatterworld (talk) 16:32, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Virginia House of Delegates
btw - I updated Ward Armstrong today. I'm using the congressional template in Externals links because it formats the VoteSmart link better. Also, I saw the VPAP link elsewhere so I added that as well. You may want to do the same as you work on the rest of the members.
I started out working on all the congressional members (both houses, all parties) for every state, then focused on just the majority party, then focused on just the ones with 'titles'...I've steadily lowered my sights and expectations as I realized how much time it takes. ;-) If everyone worked on their own state it would be helpful, so thank you for anything and everything you do with Virginia. Good luck. :-) Flatterworld (talk) 16:38, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, Dave Albo does seem to have copied his campaign profile directly into his article - no wikifying, no references, doesn't appear he bothered to look at any other politician articles to get a feel for what belongs where and how. (lol) Maybe after the election one of us will have time to go through and straighten some of these out. I've seen similar stuff with a few other politicians, but that was earlier and I had time to fix them up. I'm amazed these guys don't understand what Misplaced Pages is - and then I remember "the Google" and the comment about "tubes". Then I'm ready for a Guinness. ;-) Flatterworld (talk) 17:41, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Awesome work on these - glad I'm not the only one who noticed the lack. As I am currently occupied stubbing each current member of the Senate of France, though, I shall have to leave you to this yourself. Have fun, tho'.
- Oh...and if my plans hold, someday you may be stubbing an article on me for the House of Delegates page. :-) --User:AlbertHerring 19:14, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks so much for your work on creating these HoD pages. FWIW, when there's an opening paragraph of biographical information on a single chamber that's up to snuff, let me know. I run Richmond Sunlight, and I'd love to use that first paragraph to auto-populate each legislators' page, and then link to their Misplaced Pages entries so that people can learn more about them. --WaldoJ (talk) 21:27, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Virginia's 2nd congressional district election, 2008
Now that the election's over and Glenn Nye will keep his own article, what do you think of changing Virginia's 2nd congressional district election, 2008 to redirect to United States House of Representatives elections in Virginia, 2008#District 2? I think all the material is already in that article except for the Electoral history, but I don't know that we need that. If you want to keep it, you could copy it to Virginia's 2nd congressional district. Let me know what you think. Flatterworld (talk) 06:11, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I meant Virginia. :-) I copied the history yesterday - at least we have a record of it even if someone changes it later - and just did the redirect and fixed the other links to it. My work here is done. :-) Flatterworld (talk) 21:16, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to Milhist!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, article logistics, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts and copy-editing alerts.
- The project has a stress hotline available for your use.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! --ROGER DAVIES 22:03, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Color shading
I copied the color shading used in the Elections articles. I don't think those shades create any visibility problems, but that may depend on the browser. I don't like the narrow flag area becuase it doesn't give a good graphical image. Let's look at the rest of the states - maybe there's yet another option we'd both be happy with. Flatterworld (talk) 01:16, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- I got rid of the Democratic/Republican links (they're in the lede, which imo is sufficient) and limited the color shading to the Party column. If we're not going to do the whole row, I think that column is enough. It's wide enough to give a graphical representation. I'm happy with it - let me know what you think. Flatterworld (talk) 22:16, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Good. :-) I've now fixed the tables in the Virginia Senate the same way. There's one small table in the House of Delegates I didn't fix because I'm not sure how to do it with the coalition split affecting some of the formatting. If you can figure out how to fix it, please do. If I have time I'll help you with creating the rest of the stubs for the Delegates, and then maybe Virginia will be ready for the 2009 elections. :-) Flatterworld (talk) 02:04, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Dave Albo
Thanks for removing the supposed Misplaced Pages controversy bit from Dave Albo's page, as per WP:GRAPEVINE. Not only was the claim wrong ("significant attention" from "newspapers"?), but to see me cited as a source for that was particularly frustrating. It put me in an awkward spot (should I be removing references to me?), so I appreciate your cleaning it up. --WaldoJ (talk) 02:01, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Rollback
This item explains how to get it, which is to request it, and if they think you're sufficiently "safe", they should grant it. It is basically a keystroke-saver, and is only allowed to be used for reverting deliberate vandalism - stupid stuff like posting obscenities or other nonsense; or making mass deletions for no apparent reason. It is not to be used with anything resembling a content dispute, and that's why it was taken away from NWA. Baseball Bugs 00:50, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- Another way is the UNDO feature, which is only slightly more work. Unless that requires some special privilege also. Baseball Bugs 01:35, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Jerold Hoffberger page
The trade which involved the Orioles acquiring Frank Robinson from the Reds was engineered by outgoing general manager Lee MacPhail and executed by his successor Harry Dalton. Jerold Hoffberger's management style was never hands-on, so he didn't have a direct role in the transaction.
The recently-added information came directly from the sources mentioned in the bibliography. The other changes were for the sole purpose of giving the page a clean look and making it more user-friendly. The Ink Daddy! (talk) 00:27, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

A Second Life Problem?
I'm confused why is is being flagged. In the notice for deletion you say that "it does nothing but promote some entity"....and that...."that simply having a company or product as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion." well, this page is not promoting A Second Life. It is written completely objectively. If it were being promoted, it would state more than basic facts of the philosophy. People could find it and easily say...i don't believe any of what the tenets of this thing are....just as they could go to the wikipedia page for Judaism, and say the same thing. Promoting it would mean that it's written in a way to clearly put it in a positive light, which it certainly does not. believe me- it couldn't do this, because i dont believe in it either. it is written as objectively and encyclopedic as possible. it is also neither a company, or a product. you couldn't say 'rationalism' is a company or product. There is no company called A Second Life, just as there is nothing being sold called A Second Life. It's merely the name of a philosophy, just as stoicism is the name of a philosophy, christianity is the name of a philosophy, etc

armor games
you put up: {{articleissues | notable = December 2008 | orphan = December 2008 | refimprove = December 2008 }} on the new article for Armor Games
More good references have been added to the article, as well as discussion of its notability. It's been added to a handful of appropriate articles and linked to from at least one or two other appropriate articles it was already mentioned but not linked to. Is this enough to remove the box at the top of the article or should more still be done? Miles Blues (talk) 01:02, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- i'll keep an eye open for any flash-game, etc. related articles to link to it... that's probably the easiest of the 3 issues to take care of, just takes a little time Miles Blues (talk) 01:34, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Dwight Clinton Jones
Hi This is Tacocraz I was recently editing Dwight Clinton Jones page, i made a problem trying to edit it, i just wanted to know if you could put the updated information about him. Dwight Jones is now the current Mayor of Richmond, Virginia as of 2009, hes no longer delegate for the 70th district. Delores L. McQuinn is now delegate for his district from the special election in December.

New eds
Seem to get a thrill about putting new stubs up - little or no WP:RS, no categories and no project tags - project wise (Indonesia on WP en) it is a constant issue -alexbot can be an unpleasant sight at times SatuSuro 04:54, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
I am very sorry if I have created some misunderstandings
Please let me answer it all here - if you dont mind
I have a feeling you don't understand the purpose of tags. They are not an indication that the article needs to be deleted. They are there to let current and future editors know how they can help improve the article.
I fully understand the purpose of tags - and have - if you look on my user page a whole lot of links that show my interest in the Indonesian project and the aspect of trying to save the project from disaster - over time.
You seem to think I am out to "get" this article. Far from it. I saved it from speedy deletion, and I think it is a worthwhile subject.
Not at all if you have saved it from eager speedy - thanks - I never thought you had anything about the article.
Articles about people from non-English-speaking countries get unfair treatment from deletion-happy editors, especially when they are drafted by editors whose first language is not English. Short of writing the whole article myself, the most I can do is point the way to the parts of it that need work, so that other people won't delete an important article. That is why the tags are there.
Tell me about it - and keep up the good work -- cheers SatuSuro 05:15, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
John Brownlee sex scandal
At the moment, it doesn't, I admit. I'm in the process of expanding the articles on Alberta Premiers (see all of Brownlee's predecessors, as well as a few of his successors, to see the sort of thing I'm doing), and as part of that I want to hive off the sex scandal material (which could also do with a good deal of expansion) into a separate article, with a one section summary in the Brownlee article (I did a similar thing with Alexander Cameron Rutherford in creating Alberta and Great Waterways Railway scandal). I'm doing it in this order mostly for personal convenience; if it's really an issue I could expand the Brownlee article first, and then hive off the material into a newly created article; I'd be much obliged if you'd let me keep doing it this way and refrain from doing any kind of deletion-nominating for a couple of weeks. As a secondary point, it grates me a little that Brownlee's in Category:Sex scandals and Category:Political scandals in Canada; creating a new article will also allow the removal of those categories from the Brownlee article. I hope this explains things, and thanks for consulting me before charging madly over to AFD or some place. Cheers, Sarcasticidealist (talk) 06:56, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Apologies if the request for deletion came across premature. I guess "awhile" is relative. I still believe that if you can show that he is notable (preferably from more than just the one event according to other editors) and advance the article it should be OK.
