Team X is a fictional black ops team in the Marvel Universe.
Comics
In the Marvel Universe, Team X was a CIA black ops team that operated during the 1960s and was linked to Weapon Plus. It was made up of Logan (Wolverine), Victor Creed (Sabretooth), Maverick, Kestrel, Mastodon, Silver Fox, and Deadpool. Team X was apparently disbanded after a botched mission concerning Omega Red, though its members were captured and used as test subjects by the Weapon X Project. Omega Red has conflicted with Team X during a mission to get the Carbonadium Synthesizer to help neutralize his death factor and stabilize his body. That happened when Sabretooth and Omega Red clashed.
Other media
Television
Team X featured in the X-Men: The Animated Series of the mid-1990s in an episode called "Weapon X, Lies & Video Tape". In this episode, Wolverine, as do all the original members, had several flashbacks and returned to a Weapon X facility in Canada. The other team members are Sabretooth, Silver Fox, and Maverick. They recalled their previous missions and their battles with Omega Red, but also they realized that much of these memories were implanted into them by the Weapon X scientists. They were brought there to die at the hands of a Weapon X robot called Thalos. Thalos fails, but only because the team works together again to destroy the Weapon X countermeasure.
Team X has also figured prominently in the storyline of the Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon that began in 2008. In this series, the team consisted of Wolverine, Sabretooth, Mystique and operated as a section of the Weapon X project under the supervision of Dr. Cornelius. Following the departures of both Wolverine and Mystique, Maverick was captured, brainwashed and made to join the team.
Film
Team X is featured in the 2009 feature film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It is a prequel to the X-Men film trilogy, focusing on the mutant Wolverine and his time with Team X, before Wolverine's skeleton was bonded with the indestructible metal adamantium. The team consists of Wolverine, Sabretooth, Deadpool, Agent Zero, Wraith, Bolt, and Blob. Under the command of William Stryker, they travel to Lagos, Nigeria and confront a diamond-sorting operation over their possession of adamantium. The team disbands shortly thereafter when Wolverine leaves, unwilling to participate in a massacre of villagers. Team X is gradally dissolved over the courseof the next few years, and its remnants absorbed into the WEAPON project.
